100m: Gurindervir Singh
With timing of 10.09s, Gurindervir not only shattered NR, but also comfortably breached the qualification mark (10.16s) for both Asian Games & CWG.
Just to give some perspective:
➡️ 10.09s would have won Bronze at last Asian Games (2022)
➡️ 10.09s would have won Silver at last CWG (2022)

Gurindervir Singh becomes first Indian sprinter to run below 10.10s in 100m by clocking Indian record timing of 10.09s in the final of mens 100m of 29th Federation Cup at Ranchi.
10.09 seconds. 🇮🇳
That’s all it took for Gurindervir Singh to change Indian athletics forever.
At Birsa Munda Stadium in Ranchi, the 25-year-old became the first Indian ever to run the 100m in under 10.10 seconds, clocking a historic 10.09s and rewriting the national record books.
For years, people said Indians don’t have the genetics to dominate sprinting.
Gurindervir answered that belief in the loudest way possible.
10.09.
A new national record.
A new era.
And the celebration said everything.
The moment he crossed the finish line, he ripped off his bib, threw away his spikes, screamed into the night sky, and held up a note that read:
“The work is not done yet.”
This wasn’t luck.
This was years of sacrifice, discipline, pain, and relentless belief finally exploding onto the track.
What made it even more dramatic? The national record was broken twice within five minutes before Gurindervir reclaimed it in the final, beating Animesh Kujur by 0.11 seconds.
And history didn’t stop there.
Vishal also became the first Indian ever to run the 400m in under 45 seconds, clocking 44.98s.

Phoolka sir, anyone who has run 100m knows how difficult it is to reach 9.58s from 10.09s.
Nevertheless great effort by Gurindervir and we hope many medals in Asiad, Commonwealth and Olympics!
A historic moment for Indian athletics!
Gurindervir Singh’s phenomenal 10.09s sprint to become India’s fastest man is a spectacular achievement that will inspire countless young athletes across the country. His journey is a shining example of how focus, discipline and unwavering dedication pave the way for greatness.
Wishing him the very best for the future. May he continue to scale new heights on the international stage, bring home medals, and make 🇮🇳 proud with many more record-breaking performances.
