Scooter Tech, now in multiple Indian languages!

Designing for India doesn’t just mean focusing on Indian conditions—it also means understanding consumer preferences. So we decided to incorporate something that’s possibly even more fundamental to the Indian consumer’s experience - Language.

Many of us take pride in our language, identify with it and feel more comfortable communicating in it. That’s why we’re excited to introduce multi-language dashboard on Rizta Z in 8 different Indian regional languages - Hindi, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Bengali.

We will begin by rolling out the Hindi dashboard as an OTA (over-the-air) update, followed by the rest soon.

Happy Independence Day!

Something we care deeply about: we can and must become independent of a century old reliance on:

imported engineering
joint-ventures for access to tech
licensing agreements for tech

The @atherenergy story still stands out as a difficult to understand story for hardware in India:

Built and invested in the largest EV 2W RnD in the world, years before starting sales, and ALWAYS over indexed on testing to the point that most new customers believe that we cannot be an Indian brand.

We need to have the Indian engineer achieve independence too.

Here's hoping that we don't just work in back offices of MNCs but also design the platforms that our predecessors merely got to manufacture.

Here's hoping that Indian engg is equated not just with value engineering or cheaper products but the best in the world!

Here's hoping that 'Designed in India' is something that we all take for granted and come to expect in every thing in our daily lives!

We announced our largest product overhaul yesterday at @atherenergy.

The 450X now starts at 1.15L (ex-showroom BLR)!

This takes an Ather to the same price point as many 125cc petrol scooters. This also has been the longest ask from our community: a more affordable Ather but with the goodness all intact.

This was a complex trade-off. 450X had two big claims to fame:

1) Amazing performance - powered by the aluminium frame, integrated battery pack and immense focus on ride dynamics
2) AtherStack5 - some of the best SW and algorithms:
Fast charging and smart charging algorithms,
Consistency algos (behind those famous hill climb videos),
Smart eco mode,
Autohold,
New Android and maps,
Mobile app connectivity,
Live vehicle tracking,
3-way BT connectivity (Ather is the only one to have pulled off a 3-way connectivity),
True Range prediction algos
... and many more.

The previous choice of bundling some SW and some performance for 450+ was adding a bunch of cost for the entry level variant. Decisions like a 750W charger and fast charging support added meaningful cost when a lite user could do without those.

The new 450X starts off with a stripped down option that preserves all the performance and makes the X accessible to a 10X larger market.

And the new single Pro-pack takes all the power of our powerful algorithms, SW and connectivity in a single suite. This remains the best electric scooter package in the country.

Finally, we believe EVs will continue to become more competitive with ICE with every passing year. The last few years have seen a performance upgrade with EV. Now we will see a price advantage too.
