Some people from the Congress and Communist party are now suddenly claiming that they are the ones that voted for West Bengal partition, and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had just one seat, so he’s irrelevant. That claim does not give the true /entire picture.

I am giving a more detailed look into what Shyama Prasad Mukherjee did to create a Hindu homeland (West Bengal) for the Hindu Bengalis.

Since the time Bengal came under Muslim League rule, increased communal riots and anti-Hindu activities in the eastern areas of Bengal showed that Hindus were under serious Islamic threat, and the Congress party was clearly not being able to handle this threat .

Understanding the seriousness of the threat, by 1939 SPM started thinking of a separate homeland for Bengali Hindus. This idea took shape from the resolution adopted in the HMS 1927 Patna meet, where demands for creating separate provinces for the Hindus of Punjab and Bengal were made.

In 1941, while census was going on, SPM made a brilliant move; he convinced common Hindus to register themselves in the census, which ensured their numbers were documented, and gave a clear picture of the Hindu majority areas in Bengal.

Owing to his powerful speeches, combined with his reasoning skills, SPM slowly got the united support of both the common people and intellectuals of Bengal (Hindus). By 1946, Muslim League was thoroughly exposed as an Islamist party, and despite giving only one seat to HMS, Bengali Hindus now turned to SPM, and finally his demands for a separate Bengali Hindu homeland took steam. After this, by careful negotiations and convincing talks, SPM performed the miracle of gaining both political support and mass support in Bengal for his movement.

Finally on 15th March 1947, SPM held a public meeting in Calcutta, and with him on stage supporting him were R. C. Majumdar, Suniti Kumar Chatterji, Lord Sinha, Makhanlal Sen, Nirmal Kumar Bose, Upendranath Mukherjee, and other stellar names. Later Jadunath Sarkar and Meghnad Saha also joined his movement for a separate Hindu homeland.

Next SPM toured entire Bengal, and created mass support in favor of a Hindu homeland for Hindu Bengalis, with help from his HMS branches across Bengal. SPM then formed a team, which included Major A. C. Chatterjee (ex- INA) among others, to draw the political map of West Bengal.

It was at this time of drawing the political map of WB that the 1941 census report came to use, and helped in the demarcation of Hindu majority areas. HMS organized a huge conference for Hindus from 4th to 6th April 1947, at Tarakeshwar in Hooghly, where the plan for creating West Bengal was officially adopted. On 5th April, in a meeting, Bengal Congress officially declared their support for the creation of West Bengal as part of India, and SPM was invited as a special speaker in that Congress meeting.

When voting was held, Congress members and 2 Communist members voted for the partition of Bengal and the creation of Hindu homeland (West Bengal).

It was a miracle that Shyama Prasad Mukherjee had performed in 1946-47, in managing to unite the political leaders (Congress and few Communists), the intellectuals (Tagore, Prafulla Ray, Majumdar, Sarkar, etc), and the common people of Bengal for a Hindu homeland.

দীর্ঘ কয়েক দশক পর, এই প্রথমবার ভারত কেশরী ডঃ শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখোপাধ্যায়ের মহান আদর্শে অনুপ্রাণিত আমাদের রাষ্ট্রবাদী সরকার পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সৃষ্টির প্রকৃত ও ঐতিহাসিক ঘটনাক্রমকে পূর্ণ মান্যতা দিয়ে ‘পশ্চিমবঙ্গ দিবস’ সরকারিভাবে পালন করতে চলেছে।

আমাদের ইতিহাসকে মুছে ফেলার যে ঘৃণ্য চক্রান্ত হয়েছিল, আজ তার অবসান ঘটেছে। অবসান ঘটেছে ভোটব্যাঙ্ক ও তোষণের রাজনীতির এক অন্ধকারময় অধ্যায়ের।
দুর্ভাগ্যজনকভাবে, বিগত সরকার শুধুমাত্র নিজস্ব ভোটব্যাঙ্ক রক্ষা এবং নির্লজ্জ তোষণের রাজনীতি চরিতার্থ করার জন্য এই পব��ত্র দিনটির গুরুত্বকে সম্পূর্ণ ধামাচাপা দেওয়ার চেষ্টা করেছিল। ইতিহাসের পাতা থেকে বাঙালির এই আত্মপরিচয়ের লড়াইকে মুছে ফেলার অপচেষ্টা করা হয়, যাতে মানুষ নিজের শিকড় এবং পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সৃষ্টির নেপথ্যের প্রকৃত নায়কদের ভুলে যান। কিন্তু সত্যকে কখনও চিরতরে চেপে রাখা যায় না। আমাদের ��রকার সেই ঐতিহাসিক ভুলকে সংশোধন করে আজ বাংলার প্রকৃত ইতিহাসকে স্বমহিমায় প্রতিষ্ঠিত করেছে।

ডঃ শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখোপাধ্যায়ের প্রতি বাঙালি চিরঋণী। আজকের এই বিশেষ দিনে আমরা আমাদের মহান রাষ্ট্রনায়ককে গভীর শ্রদ্ধার সঙ্গে স্মরণ করব, যাঁর দূরদর্শিতা না থাকলে আজ ভারতের মানচিত্রে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ নামক কোনো রাজ্যের অস্তিত্বই থাকত না।

অখণ্ড বাংলাকে যখন সম্পূর্ণভাবে পাকিস্তানের অন্তর্ভুক্ত ক���ার এক ভয়ঙ্কর নীলনকশা তৈরি হয়েছিল, তখন তার বিরুদ্ধে বজ্রকঠিন প্রাচীর হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছিলেন ডঃ শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখোপাধ্যায়। তাঁর অবিচল নেতৃত্ব, অদম্য আন্দোলন এবং দূরদর্শী ভাবনার ফলেই পাকিস্তানের করাল গ্রাস থেকে মুক্ত করে ভারতের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ হিসেবে ‘পশ্চিমবঙ্গ’ রাজ্যটি গঠন করা সম্ভব হয়েছিল।

ডঃ শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখোপাধ্যায়, ভারত সেবাশ্রম সংঘের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা স্বামী প্রণবানন্দ মহারাজ এবং সেই সকল বিশিষ্ট ব্যক্তিত্ব ও তৎকালীন পশ্চিমবঙ্গ আইনসভার সদস্যগণ, যাঁদের প্রচেষ্টা, দূরদর্শিতা ও ঐতিহাসিক সিদ্ধান্তের ফলে পশ্চিমবঙ্গ ভারতের অবিচ্ছেদ্য অংশ হিসেবে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়, তাঁদের সকলের কাছে আমাদের এই ঋণ অপরিশোধ্য। তাঁরা যদি সেদিন বাঙালির জন্য এই নিরাপদ আশ্রয়ভূমি গড়ে না তুলতেন, তবে আজ আমাদের সংস্কৃতি, ভাষা ও অস্তিত্ব সংকটের মুখে পড়ত।

আজ পশ্চিমবঙ্গ দিবসের এই শুভক্ষণে আমরা সবাই মি��ে ডঃ শ্যামাপ্রসাদ মুখোপাধ্যায়ের স্বপ্ন ও আদর্শকে পাথেয় করে এক নতুন, সুরক্ষিত এবং সমৃদ্ধিশালী পশ্চিমবঙ্গ গড়ে তোলার শপথ নিই।

Terrible experience of trying to start business in Kolkata during TMC rule -

“I am sharing an incident involving TMC and the life risks that I faced.

Perhaps I can write this today only because TMC has lost; otherwise, after writing this, they might have finished me off as well.

First, let me say a little about myself. I studied at IIT. After IIT, I spent most of my life abroad. Currently, I live in the Bay Area (Silicon Valley) in America. Professionally, I am an AI researcher/scientist. I have filed several patents, and I have multiple papers and publications in top international conferences and journals. I work in research at an MNC in America, and currently hold a Senior Manager position; many PhD researchers work under me.

Now coming to the main incident. As an Indian and a Bengali, I always dreamed of doing something for my country and for West Bengal. With that dream, I decided to establish an AI robotics and manufacturing company in Kolkata. It would create jobs in Bengal, and the youth of Bengal would get opportunities to work within Bengal itself.

I spoke with some investors in America. They really liked my plan and agreed to invest. Some investment discussions also progressed through IIT connections.

Accordingly, I finalized a piece of land beside Infosys in Rajarhat Newtown, Kolkata, to set up the manufacturing unit. Initially, I purchased a small plot, with plans to expand on a much larger scale once investments came in.

The land was purchased from a Muslim owner named Abul Molla. He committed extensive fraud. He took payment for a much larger amount of land but ultimately registered far less land. Even then, all legal formalities, such as, registration, mutation/records, conversion, tax payment, were completed lawfully.

After some time, problems began.

The land mafia of Rajarhat and Bhangar, people associated with TMC’s Saokat Molla, fenced off the side of the land, blocked access by building walls, prevented me from entering my own property, and began demanding huge sums of money. I tried many times to resolve the issue. Investors from America kept pressuring me, asking when work would begin.

I personally met Abhishek Banerjee at his residence. I also spoke with several other leaders, such as Debraj Chakraborty, husband of former Rajarhat MLA Aditi Munshi, and Saokat Molla of Bhangar. I filed reports at the police station. But nobody helped. Informally, everyone only demanded money. From the top to the bottom of TMC, everyone kept asking for money. The police also offered no help. At the police station, I was told to sit with those blocking access to the land and “settle” the matter by paying them. I appointed a lawyer to file a case. But even the lawyer became frightened. I received threats that if I filed a case, I would be murdered. In this situation, I was forced to abandon everything.

I truly could not imagine that West Bengal had come to this state. Whenever investors asked me, I would avoid the truth by making excuses. I felt ashamed to speak about the condition of my own Bengal. As a Bengali, I am genuinely ashamed. This corrupt TMC party has destroyed Bengal. Everyone says IITians leave the country and do nothing for it. I tried, but I could not succeed. Perhaps there are many more Bengalis like me who wanted to do something, but could not because of the political goons in West Bengal. IITians are assets to the nation. But if the country does not provide a suitable environment, what can they do? They will go abroad, stay there, and prosper there instead.

I promise that if I get my land back, I will start full-fledged operations there within one year. And if I cannot do anything, then my life will continue as it is now. I will forget everything and start my startup/company in America itself.

I have great hopes from the new BJP government , that it will free Bengal from this corruption and terror and make it once again into a “Golden Bengal.”
