In this edition of #CondensedMatterPioneers, we would like to highlight the career of Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman (1888-1970), a pioneering physicist and the first Indian to receive a Nobel Prize in Science.🧵

Stronger adhesion also reshapes the group into two +½ defects, revealing how surface chemistry can steer active nematic–like cell organization. Would love to hear thoughts from the community working in this area. #Topologicaldefect#collectivecelldynamics (3/3)
We show that changing how cells adhere to a surface can redirect their collective motion — from moving inward to circulating around a patterned ring. (2/3)
Do join us at the "Feel the Force" #summerschool at KU Leuven, Belgium. It will be full of super informative and interactive sessions, posters, and hands-on workshops on TFM, FRET, microfluidics, and more!! Early bird registration ends on 29th August 2023!

I am elated to share that I successfully defended my Ph.D. thesis on 25th July 2023. I would like to thank my mentors, colleagues, friends, staff, parents, and brother for being a part of this incredible journey. Ph.D. #PhDone#phdvoice
It was an amazing experience interacting with great minds and listening to the talks of professors Rob B. Phillips, @ManuPra18599785, Julia Yeomans, David Nelson, David Weitz, @FakhriLab, and Andreas Bausch. @AcademicChatter
Niels Bohr, the visionary Danish physicist and Nobel laureate, leaves behind a lasting and profound legacy in physics and science as a whole.
This week, the Novo Nordisk Foundation proudly hosted a conference celebrating the centenaries of the Niels Bohr Institute (founded in 1921) and Niels Bohr’s Nobel Prize in Physics (awarded in 1922).
Titled “Crossing the Disciplinary Boundaries of Physics”, the conference was organised by the Niels Bohr Archive, the Niels Bohr International Academy, and the Niels Bohr Institute.
We were honoured to have His Royal Highness The Crown Prince at our Copenhagen headquarters for the event. Crown Prince Frederik opened a public celebration and attended a lecture by the 2022 Nobel Laureate, Morten Meldal.
Just out in PNAS: how do fibroblasts respond to topological defects imposed on them? Modeling by @kurmankaiyrbek, great collaboration with @SerraLab_LC + Kirsten Endresen for the experiments! https://t.co/ktvKy3Xywq
I am extremely excited to share the following recent research publication along with its granted patent with all of you. This research work is carried out in equal collaboration with @jyotsana2212
