@Toddfavre99@TonyLaneNV@ken_kmak8542 Hi, Utahn here, this is a Republican appointed judge who was required to intervene because legislators would not follow the Utah constitution to make a non-partisan, non-gerrymandered map. Legislators had 7yrs to do so, they did not, so an independent commission made one instead.
@GovCox WHO WILL FIGHT FOR THE PEOPLE IF THE COURT DOESNT STEP IN, SPENCER?!?! Sorry for not disagreeing better, but the Legislature continuously undermining the will of the people that came through a direct democratic vote is infuriating. If the court doesnโt step in then WHO?!
@CoxWebDev@tvheidihatch I see what you're saying, no map will be perfect, but I really don't see how splitting Utah's most populated county into 4 districts was better. Legislators had time to make a more fair map. Again, I truly feel this is more representative of Utah voters as a whole.
@CoxWebDev@tvheidihatch The legislators had ample time to create a non-partisan map, they did not so the judge picked one from an independent redistricting committee. It's more representative of the Utah population.
@nathantmcbride@DayByDayNow@danmccay @RugglesChubbles Okay, any comment on legislators ignoring the judge's order and using partisan data to draw maps? I truly don't see how the legislators are in the right in any way, but lmk otherwise
@nathantmcbride@DayByDayNow@danmccay @RugglesChubbles This "third-party religious group" used a computer program to generate a non-partisan map. Judge Gibson gave the legislators multiple opportunities to create a map using non-partisan data, which they never did
