I live in the Netherlands. My experience in directly dealing with the embassy hasn't been great since VFS stopped taking care of consular operations. The process is all over the place , it's impossible to get an appointment, the staff well.. Compare that to municipal and immigrations offices here, it's mild blowing how much process oriented, digital first they are, while completely hiding all the bureaucracy from the end customers. And this has been the case for the last 10 years, we have a very long way to go.
