Indian edtech didn’t scale as an ecosystem, it just produced a few outliers.
And the median makes that impossible to ignore.
EdTech
Median ~$0.36M | Highly concentrated
Fintech
Median ~$1–3M | Moderately distributed
SaaS
Median ~$1–2M | Broad distribution
The core problem with Indian edtech is that it evolved as a reputation-driven market, where capital, trust, and growth concentrated around a few big players, leaving most startups small and struggling.
This created an ecosystem that looks large on the surface but is actually shallow underneath. The way forward is to shift from perception to performance where growth is driven by real learning outcomes, strong product design, and transparent results.
When trust is built through consistent student improvement rather than brand dominance, the ecosystem can move from being concentrated to genuinely scalable.
