Ad Mundum Noviter Intellegendum
A practice of thought, recursive and integrated.
In service of understanding the world anew.
Some ideas found, others formed.
See yourself—not from behind your eyes,
but in what they see.
Not outside life, watching,
Not above the noise, hearing,
But within it.
Seeing from behind the eyes,
and recognising yourself in what’s seen.
Not divided. Not dissolved. Just here.
Noticing, Knowing,
Welcome.

The interplay between levels in a hierarchy isn’t always strictly linear or top-down. Instead, it can be more like a dynamic network where different layers influence each other in multiple directions.
A tree does not start in its leaves, but in its roots,
And its roots are nourished by its environment.
A person does not begin in their body.
They do not begin in their actions.
They do not begin in their mind.
They begin in the conditions that allow those things to emerge.
Living is less about perfection and more about dynamic coherence. About finding a way of continually re-relating to yourself and the world, never fully stable but never lost.
Granted, there are some neurophysiological patterns which can be found repeatably,
But this experience is likely different for each episode of emotion even within the same person.
Further, this is likely processed and interpreted by any observer of the same episode(s).
Damasio presents the biological function of emotions as
1) to produce a specific reaction to an inducing situation
2) to regulate the internal state of the organism to prepare for the specific reaction
He finds these reactions stable across cultures and people
Despite the initially convincing arguments for universal responses and markers existing for emotions, and those emotions being stable,
I would largely have to reject this idea in favour of the idea of emotional variability across people and cultures.
Identify your current signals: are you rigid, chaotic, or alive at the edge?
Too Rigid? Introduce micro-novelty, deliberate stress or gratitude/reframing.
Too Random? Anchor with structure, regulate arousal, prune commitments.
Stay balanced by calibrating challenge and energy.
Kierkegaard framed the self as a relation that relates itself to itself; a dynamic tension suspended between what is and what could be.
In modern terms, this resembles what complexity theory calls the edge of chaos. The delicate zone where systems are neither rigid, nor random.
In order for any theory to become practical, it must be understood with respect to the phenomena and qualia we encounter and pair with our intentionality. Said differently,
Theory becomes practice only when it is experientially understood and intentionally applied.
The fabric of our minds and of our behaviour is woven around continuous cycles of emotions followed by feelings that become known and beget new emotions,
A running polyphony that underscores and punctuates specific thoughts in our minds and actions in our behaviour.
@ML_Philosophy It has taken my entire personal life up to this point to give up rush for myself, and to convince my family to understand and do the same.
Life-threatening circumstance aside, I won’t go back to rushing for any one or any thing.
