Warhammer 40k 11th Edition
Pre-Order: June 6
In my hands: June 20th
My son and I lost our minds watching this new trailer. The scope is perfect, the narration is 40k intro text, and the pathos is overwhelming.
This woman saved Star Wars. Without her there would be no Star Wars. She went in and re-cut the trench run scene so it actually made sense after Lucas showed it to a bunch of people and they laughed at it. Seriously a legend. May the force be with you. Thank you.
It has to be my favorite archetype: the corruption of innocence, where a person slowly loses their sense of clarity or goodness and slips into madness. What makes it interesting is how gradual and believable the change feels. In the process of fighting something they see as wrong, they begin to adopt the same traits and methods they once opposed. Over time, they become indistinguishable from it, losing the very values that defined them in the beginning.
As Friedrich Nietzsche put it:
"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you."
The truth is, they killed Kubrick for making this film then dramatically altered it before it's release.
Tom and Nicole had to 'go dark' after initially saying on seeing the theatrical release, "That's not the film we made with Stanley."
And just think: even what they decided to allow into the theatrical cut was DISTURBING ENOUGH it still upsets people.
