Planting exotic trees for quick shade looks nice, but it doesn't fix the local ecosystem. Indigenous trees belong here, their root systems know the local water table, and our native birds actually rely on them. Plant local, always.
FORGOTTEN RITUALS IN AFRICAN SPIRITUALITY — AND WHAT THEY WERE PROTECTING
One question modern Africa rarely asks:
What if progress did not replace some rituals… but simply left empty spaces?
Across many African spiritual traditions, rituals were not empty performances. They protected order, preserved memory, shaped identity, and reminded people that life was not meant to be lived disconnected.
1. Greeting the Dawn Starting the day with silence, gratitude, prayer, reflection, and intention.
2. Honouring Ancestors & Elders Remembering that wisdom did not begin with us and identity has roots.
3. Ritual Cleansing Symbolic renewal through water, smoke, cleansing after mourning, before ceremonies, during transitions, and releasing emotional burdens.
4. Sacred Community Gatherings Gathering, eating, sharing, and strengthening collective life.
5. Living by Natural Seasons Respecting cycles of planting, harvest, rain, rest, and timing.
6. Meaningful Naming Ceremonies Names carrying purpose, values, history, and family memory.
7. Storytelling Around Fire Passing ethics, warnings, history, and spiritual knowledge.
8. Rituals of Restoration Repairing conflict and protecting harmony.
9. Dream Reflection & Sacred Listening Creating space for reflection and inner awareness.
10. Returning to Family Ground Preserving belonging, continuity, and connection.
Maybe what was forgotten was never the ritual.
Maybe it was staying connected
to people, memory, land, and purpose.
Modern Africa is advancing.
But advancement without remembrance can become movement without direction.
Which forgotten ritual does Africa need back first, and why?
Mfethu, majita... love yourselves too. Know your worth, my Kings.
We spend so much time telling women to know their worth, to choose themselves, to walk away from disrespect, to embrace woman upliftment and woman empowerment. Those conversations are important. But somewhere along the way, we forgot that our Kings also need to hear the same message.
Men can find themselves in toxic relationships too. Men can date women who are masters of manipulation, experts at gaslighting, women who constantly remind them that they are "not enough," that they are worthless, that they should be grateful for the bare minimum. Men can be used financially, expected to provide endlessly while their dreams, goals and growth are ignored. Men can also be humiliated, disrespected and emotionally drained.
Pain does not only belong to women.
If she is for the streets, she will return to the streets. You cannot build a home with someone who enjoys destroying your peace.
Majita, love yourselves enough to walk away from disrespect. Love yourselves enough to choose peace over chaos. Love yourselves enough to know that loyalty, kindness and commitment should never be repaid with humiliation.
We also need Kings who pray. Kings who know that strength is not silence. Kings who understand that asking for help is not weakness. Kings who know that coming back home and starting again is not failure.
And ladies, there is beauty in loving your partner too. There is beauty in serving him a meal with love, in covering his back when life gets hard, in spoiling him when you can even if it's just breakfast at Wimpy. Healthy love is not one-sided. It is partnership. It is mutual care. It is choosing each other over and over again.
Teach your boys to love themselves. Teach your boys to have standards. Teach your boys that being a man does not mean accepting abuse. Teach your boys that they deserve respect. Teach your boys that they are allowed to leave situations that break their spirit. Teach your boys that they are worthy of genuine love.
Our brothers matter. Our sons matter. Our fathers matter. Our uncles matter. We have uncles and brothers who have kids to. Brothers and uncles who are raising family member kids. Brothers are uncles who are loved in the community. You know that feeling of calling your brother or uncle call to come save you from something.
They also don't deserve bad treatment.
Majita, know your worth. You are Kings too.
Period.
The message isn't about men versus women. It's about reminding our Kings that self-respect, love, peace and dignity belong to them too.
Happy Fathers day even to the ones who are not fathers but we see you to🙏📿🌻

You wonder why you never seen a Black people playing in Argentina soccer team. True story how did Argentina get rid of its black population?. wars by forcing them to go fight in the front line. And disease.. yes and then whiten the population out.
Good. The rent seeking will stop.
They’ve already done this to caviar, diamonds, electronics, medicine and AI.
I can’t wait for cheap GPUs. Oh, and life extension technology. Can’t have the elites hoarding that.
Everything shall be affordable to the masses. Everything.
This girl is offering N1 million to any woman who can convincingly explain to her how marriage benefits men
Bro, I saw thousands of comments, and not more than 5 comments were from women. They all went mute. Not one feminist could explain it to her
She deserves her flowers 🌺
Sometimes people will use you just to wake you up.
Sometimes they will hurt you so you can finally start focusing on yourself.
Sometimes they will use you because they want to see if you still stupid.
Sometimes they will disappoint you because you keep ignoring the red flags.
Sometimes they will take advantage of your kindness because you never learned to say "no."
Sometimes they will use your heart, your time, your money, and your love because you keep giving without boundaries.
Sometimes they will sleep with you, not because they love you, but because you keep making yourself available.
Sometimes the lesson is not about them. It's about you.
It's about waking up. It's about seeing your worth. It's about setting boundaries. It's about choosing yourself.
Not everyone who enters your life comes to stay. Some people come to teach you a lesson you refused to learn any other way.
The pain was not sent to destroy you. The pain came to open your eyes.
Wake up. Love yourself. Protect yourself. Choose yourself.

FERTILIZATION AND GREEN MANURE USE IN BANANA PRODUCTION
Improving Soil Fertility for Healthy Growth and High Yields
Banana is a heavy feeder and requires a continuous supply of nutrients for proper growth and fruit development. Adequate fertilization is essential for producing vigorous plants, high-quality fruits, and increased yields. Among the nutrients required, potassium is particularly important because bananas have a high demand for this element compared to many other crops.
Fertilization in Banana Production
Banana plants require both macro and micronutrients throughout their growth cycle. Proper fertilization ensures healthy root development, vigorous vegetative growth, flowering, and fruit formation.
A typical fertilizer program includes the following:
Rooting and Establishment Stage
During the first ten days after planting, lime is applied at a rate of 5 kg per hectare to improve soil conditions. Mono Ammonium Phosphate, containing 11 percent nitrogen and 52 percent phosphorus, is applied at a rate of 200 g per plant. Phosphorus promotes root development and enhances early plant establishment.
Vegetative Growth Stage
During the vegetative phase, Calcium Ammonium Nitrate containing 27 percent nitrogen and 5 percent calcium is applied at a rate of 200 g per plant. Nitrogen promotes leaf production and vigorous growth.
Flowering Stage
Between 180 and 220 days after planting, Potassium Nitrate containing 13 percent nitrogen and 46 percent potassium is applied at a rate of 90 kg per hectare. Potassium improves flowering, fruit development, and fruit quality.
Fruiting Stage
At fruiting, Magnesium Sulphate containing 22 percent magnesium and 15 percent sulphur is applied. Magnesium is essential for chlorophyll formation and efficient photosynthesis.
Micronutrient fertilizers can also be applied during establishment, vegetative growth, and flowering at a rate of 4 kg per hectare to ensure balanced plant nutrition.
Green Manure in Banana Production
Organic fertilizers such as green manure provide nutrients while improving soil structure and biological activity. Green manure is inexpensive and environmentally friendly, making it suitable for sustainable banana production.
Preparation of Green Manure
To prepare 15 litres of green manure, the following materials are required:
• 6 kg of fresh cattle dung.
• 9 litres of water.
• 4 kg of fresh Tithonia weeds.
The Tithonia leaves should be chopped into small pieces and mixed thoroughly with the cattle dung and water in a container. The mixture should then be covered with a cloth or newspaper and kept under shade for one to two weeks.
Fermentation is complete when the mixture stops producing bubbles and the unpleasant smell disappears. At this stage, the green manure is ready for use.
Application of Green Manure
Three litres of the prepared green manure should be applied to each stool once every three months. Regular application improves soil fertility, supplies nutrients, and supports healthy plant growth.
Benefits of Green Manure
Green manure improves soil structure, increases organic matter, enhances water retention, and promotes the activity of beneficial microorganisms. It also reduces dependence on chemical fertilizers and contributes to sustainable banana production.
Proper fertilization and the use of green manure are essential for maintaining soil fertility and ensuring high banana yields. By supplying nutrients at the right stages of growth and incorporating organic manure into the production system, farmers can achieve healthy plants, improved fruit quality, and sustainable banana production.

A little girl in Boston went home one day and asked her Nigerian mother if she could change her name to Zoe.
Nobody at school could say Uzoamaka.
Her mother was cooking. She didn't even turn around.
"If they can learn to say Tchaikovsky, Michelangelo, and Dostoyevsky, they can learn to say Uzoamaka."
That girl kept her name.
Then she went to Hollywood and won three Emmy Awards.
And now the whole world knows exactly how to say Uzoamaka Aduba.
Your name is not a burden. It's a prophecy.
