@pollo_xyz Haven't even gotten DJV to start in a while. It just opens for a second as a background process and then shuts down again. Re-installed a couple of times, but no luck. If it ever starts working again, I'll be coming back to this thread!
Really excited to be speaking for @SideFX at this year's @forwardcf Forward Festival Berlin next week on Thu, Aug 29! Check out the full 2-day program with a packed line-up of awesome talent here: https://t.co/aVC0sYw0rM ... If you're there, come and say hi!
Follow-up question to my @SideFX#Houdini#KarmaXPU post yesterday (https://t.co/xN6ujxey2c): if I work with "ACES 1.0 - SDR Video" and render a SDR file (i.e. JPG) for previewing, the render doesn't match up with the viewport/MPlay. Export from MPlay with OCIO baked in does.
Quick question: when rendering in "ACEScg" with @SideFX#Houdini#karmaXPU, do people view their output with the View Transform set to "ACES 1.0 - SDR Video" (aka a tonemapped result) or "Un-tone-mapped" (aka in Linear Rec.709)? Asking for a friend.
@adamalbo @sidefx Tokens definitely work, but this would output the image in ACEScg and I would like the View Transform baked in and have the image in sRGB.

The other option would be to work with the "Un-tone-mapped" view transform, where everything is matching up. But it doesn't have the nice roll-off in the highlights that "ACES 1.0 - SDR Video" has.
Decided to finally take a bit of quality #Houdini time, and jump into Solaris, #KarmaXPU and #MaterialX. Still lots to learn and figure out (what to do in SOPs and LOPs, ACES Workflow, Packed Prims, Motion Blur, AOVs etc.) – but it's a start!
Today, @SchuchFelix and I spent half a day trying to get @redshift3d to output the exact colours of a texture. @sechzehnzuneun told us that you have to invert what the ODT is doing. Meaning in the #Redshift ACES workflow, pick "Invert ACES 1.0 SDR-video" instead of "sRGB" ...
Fun motion project I got to design and animate with the lovely guys from https://t.co/gqXlqNpkkj last year. Time flies! Full project here: https://t.co/OSAlhdb7nc
As part of my presentation at the #OFFF2024#Houdini HIVE, I decided to also create a short film titled BREATHE – a personal project exploring the themes of resilience and inner resolve through reconnecting with one's sense of self: https://t.co/pSiIaNpkAO
@rickgude Since I want to use Redshift's OCIO settings and at random times Houdini seems to revert to its default OCIO settings, I have a simple Geometry node with a Script SOP inside that sets the OCIO path everytime I open a file. Maybe this helps.
FREEBIE ALERT 🚨We've teamed up with @prdx72 to give you free Houdini project files full of SOPs, CHOPs, and Particles.
