to explain why they believed Jesus is God.

The burden is on critics to explain
why those who knew Him best did.

Strange claim.
The burden of proof
is on the one making it.

The earliest Christians
the ones who actually
walked with Him, heard Him
and knew Him personally
worshiped Jesus as God

and died for this belief.

Thomas looked at the risen Jesus
and declared:
“My Lord and my God!”
(John 20:28)
and Jesus accepted it without correction.

Even secular scholarship admits it.

If Jesus had repeatedly and clearly denied being divine
why did those closest to Him
reach the exact opposite conclusion
and stake their lives on it?

The real question is:

Whoever denies Me before men
I also will deny before My Father who is in heaven.
(Matthew 10:33)

Muslims are permitted to verbally deny their faith
when their lives are threatened:

Except for one who is forced
[to renounce his religion] while his heart is secure in faith.
(Qur’an 16:106)

One side risks life to secure eternity.

The other is permitted to preserve life
by denying with the tongue while keeping faith in the heart.
