To everyone who helped bring the Obama Presidential Center to life, thank you. Michelle and I are so grateful for all your dedication and hard work over the years.
I got a little teary-eyed tonight thinking about my mother-in-law, Marian Robinson.
This is such a disgusting victory lap. Trump and Rubio have left the Chavista/Maduro regime in place by recognizing Delcy who has NOT released all political prisoners, has just appointed Venezuela’s torture chief to Defense Minister, and cannot be trusted to transition the..
In Shigeaki Mori, a Japanese atomic bomb survivor from Hiroshima, President Obama saw the best of humanity, even while reflecting on one of our darkest chapters.
Mori died Sunday at age 88. Today, we honor his example, which President Obama spoke to in 2016 when he visited Hiroshima on the 71st anniversary of America dropping the atomic bomb on that city. Among the more than 140,000 killed in Hiroshima, Mori discovered 30 years later that there were 12 American POWs. He researched the men and wrote to their families, who didn’t yet know how their loved ones had died.
President Obama was the first sitting U.S. president to visit Hiroshima, and while there, he reflected on Mori’s work — how it connected people through their shared humanity, regardless of their countless differences: “We’re not bound by genetic code to repeat the mistakes of the past. We can learn. We can choose. We can tell our children a different story –- one that describes a common humanity; one that makes war less likely and cruelty less easily accepted.
We see these stories in the hibakusha –- the woman who forgave a pilot who flew the plane that dropped the atomic bomb, because she recognized that what she really hated was war itself; the man who sought out families of Americans killed here, because he believed their loss was equal to his own.”
In telling the story of the universality of loss, Mori set an example for us all and we are all better for his contributions.
Rob Reiner spent decades defending democracy and fighting for equality - even when it wasn’t easy or popular. At a moment when silence is safer, his willingness to speak out is a reminder that protecting democracy requires courage.
RETWEET to honor Reiner's legacy of justice ♥️
Here is a recap of the Ukraine situation, for those choosing to reject propaganda and continue seeking truth:
December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia.
February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness.
July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden.
February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days. Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically.
U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry. We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war.
~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process. Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff.
The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP.
America can and will reclaim its backbone again soon, with better policy and messaging from common sense moderates.
Slava Ukraina.
Generations of American patriots, from our revolution onward, have fought for the principles Zelenskyy is risking his life to defend. But today, Donald Trump and JD Vance attacked Zelenskyy and pressured him to surrender the freedom of his people to the KGB war criminal who invaded Ukraine. History will remember this day— when an American President and Vice President abandoned all we stand for.
Jennifer Aniston, who rarely makes political statements, responds to @JDVance’s comments about “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives.”
“I truly can't believe this is coming from a potential VP of The United States. All I can say is...Mr. Vance, I pray that your daughter is fortunate enough to bear children of her own one day. I hope she will not need to turn to IVF as a second option. Because you are trying to take that away from her, too.”
"DONALD TRUMP IS UNFIT FOR OFFICE. DONALD TRUMP SHOULD DROP OUT OF THE RACE."
Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, Congressman Ted Lieu, just gave the perfect answer to the endless questions from the media about President Biden.
Watch how Lieu suggests to reporters to start covering Donald Trump being all over in the latest release of the Epstein files and taking flights together with young girls and Jeffery Epstein.
“In what world do Democrats have the gonadal fortitude to run for office in Republican districts? Every Republican district. Well, it seems in the world of Florida they do. Who would have guessed ?”

BREAKING: The details of Donald Trump's scheming phone call to MAGA Speaker Mike Johnson right after his felony conviction leak — and they're absolutely damning.
Trump used "frequent F-bombs" as he begged Johnson to "overturn" his guilty verdict. And it gets so much worse...
"We have to overturn this," Trump told Johnson. Politico reports that Johnson "didn’t really need to be convinced" according to at least one person familiar with the conversation.
The two of them have spoken several times since to discuss how the Republican-controlled House might be able to help Trump exact revenge on Democrats.
One option Johnson is considering is granting presidents the power to move state cases to federal court — allowing Trump to slither off the hook.
Let's be clear about what this is. The Republican Speaker of the House is secretly conspiring with a convicted felon to undermine justice and bring about a fascist White House.
Johnson should be immediately investigated and ousted from the speakership. This is a grave betrayal of the public trust and a shameless assault on democracy.

Mitch McConnell knows Trump provoked the violent attack on our Capitol and then “watched television happily” as his mob brutally beat police officers and hunted the Vice President. He knows Trump refused for hours to tell his mob to leave and “even then with police officers bleeding…he kept repeating his election lies and praising the criminals.” He knows Trump committed a “disgraceful dereliction of duty” and is a danger to our Republic. Trump and his collaborators will be defeated, and history will remember the shame of people like @LeaderMcConnell who enabled them.
Unless we start speaking up and fighting back, good people will continue to be silenced. Power should never be more important than doing right by those who entrusted it to you.
I was a fan of Matthew Perry before Friends, though I am also a huge fan of Friends, and I will continue to be a huge fan of both! Rest in Love and Peace!
I want to leave Matthew Perry’s own words here as the way we remember him. There will never be another like him- he lit up so many hearts in so many ways. Godspeed to Paradise!
@Suzoo305@WPLGLocal10 He cheated, one person, and he was caught. Cheaters don’t deserve to represent the people and ALL CHEATERS should pay the crime!!
