This was a radiofrequency ablation (RFA) performed after successful medial branch blocks.
Medial branch blocks are diagnostic injections used to determine whether the facet joints in the spine are the source of back pain. If those injections provide significant relief, it confirms that the medial branch nerves are transmitting the pain signals.
RFA then uses controlled heat to reduce the ability of those nerves to send pain signals.

Trigger finger develops when the flexor tendon in the finger becomes irritated and thickened.
Normally this tendon glides smoothly through a small tunnel in the palm called the tendon sheath.
When inflammation narrows that space, the tendon struggles to move through it.
This is why the finger may click, catch, or even lock during movement.
