In Brighton the police protected 4 right wing protestors from thousands of counter-demonstrators. Freedom of speech and protest protected. So much for supposed “two tier” policing.

@shefmarkh @mike_rat @SkyNews A foundation course is an additional year per-entry to UG. The International Year One is, effectively, the first year of a degree. You go straight to year two in the university. Nothing similar exists for UK students who fail to get entry grades. I hope that is clear.

@debbie_mcvitty And before you spit you should also consider this - the story is true as far as International Year One is concerned. First year of a degree available to international students only at lower academic and language grades than for UK or other direct students.

@matthewrobb701 This is one of the most sensible threads I’ve seen in a long time. Strategic realignment of the sector is necessary. But it mustn’t just feed VC egos or add to back office bloat. An opportunity to really consider what a tertiary education sector is for.

@CSkidmoreUK The change in major recruiting countries means that neither you nor anyone else knows for sure how many currently want to become permanent immigrants. It’s not bad if they do but it would be good to have some facts.
