STORY | Jharkhand job exam stir: Man throws ink at AISA's Neha Bora, detained

A man threw ink at All India Students' Association president Neha Bora during a protest march to the Jharkhand Assembly in Ranchi on Friday over alleged irregularities in recruitment exams in the state, accusing her of being "anti-national".

The incident occurred near Birsa Chowk when the protesters led by two student organisations – AISA and AISF – were marching towards the assembly.

Reacting to the incident, Bora said, “I am not going to be scared by the throwing of ink, as I faced pellet-gun fire and baton charges in the Delhi protest.”

“We were holding a peaceful march. A man suddenly emerged out of the crowd and threw ink at Bora,” said Shivani, an AISA leader.

She alleged that the man was a BJP-aided goon.

The man, who allegedly threw ink, was detained by the police, an officer said.

Speaking to the media, the man said, "Bora is a supporter of Umar Khalid. I don’t like her. She is an anti-national."

The BJP is not merely attempting to draw a false equivalence between two student protests, both of which the CJP supports. It is also trying to pit one section of Gen Z against what it thinks is “another” section of Gen Z and young gen.

DO NOT FALL INTO THIS TRAP!

Divide and rule has long been one of its oldest political tactics. They have already divided people on the basis of religion, caste, language, region, and community. Now, they are very eager to divide the youth as well.

We will be different.

Young Indians may disagree on issues, but they must never allow themselves to be turned against one another for political gain. Unity, and not manufactured divisions, is our greatest strength.

Don’t let anyone weaponise our generation against itself.
