This is what I’ll say about the Tomi Adeyemi drama. I watched this full vid last yr. It came out AFTER filming
She seemed thrilled with the movie. She took up for the Amandla casting. Said she enjoyed the director & cast
So I don’t know what happened!
I’m working on a vid
“Children of Blood and Bone” budget is apparently 200 Million and is currently being sabotaged by the co-writer/author.
if this bombs at the box office, this might be the last Black film with this type of budget that we get in the next 10 years besides “Black Panther”.
Mehn, my heart goes out to Gina. After pouring your heart and soul into a project for over 2years and according to the author’s own words, trying your best to honor the material and involving the author to the point of even a cameo. On top of shouldering so much responsibility and expectations as the Director, she has to deal with the same author disparaging the work that has been done. Let’s call a spade a spade, what the author is doing right now is some BS.
You got some of the biggest and brightest black talent from around the world on your adaptation, a big studio backing it with a decent budget and marketing, what you do is respect everyone’s work and you suck it up girl. When you’re working with studios, you don’t typically get everything exactly how you want or imagined and often there’s conflict during the creative process. It happens.
Decenter yourself a little and think about what’s at stake for everyone who worked on this and even the broader AA creative community. You act like a grown up and work towards a resolution. If it cannot be resolved, speak to your lawyers. This obsession with people bringing personal/work conflict to the internet is so manipulative, it’s exhausting.
1 legend. 1 story. $1 billion at the box office.
To every fan who bought a ticket, sang along, dressed up, and returned to the big screen again and again: thank you. This milestone belongs to you. #MichaelMovie
Ppl LOVE Black culture until Black people start speaking about their reality!!
The UK has benefited from Black contribution for generations, from music to healthcare to culture itself, yet during every political shift, we somehow become the scapegoat for public frustration!!!!!!
“African Man” feels less like provocation and more like frustration finally speaking back.
London has never been safer than it is right now. Never in history. Tired of these countryside pricks waffling. School kids aren’t even getting asked “what’s the time?” anymore.
