INDEED. They perform one of the most thankless jobs in the country.
A job that demands they put their lives on the line so that law and order holds.

Whatever your politics, no family should have to watch a loved one risk their life in service, only to see them vilified without regard for the facts.

Rule of Law Cannot Be Selective

If action is demanded against police personnel for allegedly using excessive force during the CJP protest at Jantar Mantar, then equally swift and stringent action must be taken against those who attacked the police.

Police personnel were assaulted, injured, pelted with stones, and forced to confront a violent mob that breached barricades, turning what was projected as a "student protest" into complete lawlessness.

Accountability cannot be one-sided.

If any police officer is found to have exceeded the law, appropriate action must follow. But those who attacked the uniform cannot be granted a free pass because it suits a particular narrative.

The Rule of Law demands one standard for everyone. The baton that goes beyond legal limits and the hand that strikes a police officer must both face the full force of the law.

Anything less is not justice, it is hypocrisy.

This is totally deplorable. I sympathies with those affected by the NEET leak but it has degenerated to a free for all. It is sad that students were lathi charged but this did not happen without any provocation.Many police and other security personnel were thrashed as well.

One of the worst cases of injustice for Kashmiri pandits.

For decades, India’s self-appointed human-rights industry found endless compassion for Yasin Malik and almost none for Sarla Bhat. You won't even know about her, in all probability, unless your Google her name.

Jammu and Kashmir's State Investigation Agency's chargesheet now names Malik as the mastermind behind the abduction, rape, torture and murder of the 27-year-old Kashmiri Hindu nurse. Investigators say the allegation that she was a police informer was a fabricated excuse for a premeditated assassination.

Salra Bhat's bullet-riddled body was dumped on a roadside. Allegations of torture and sexual assault followed. Her family says that after performing her last rites, their home was attacked and a mob descended on the cremation ground when they returned to collect her ashes.

This was never merely one murder. It was terror designed to break an entire community, frighten Kashmiri Pandits into abandoning their homeland and ensure that even their dead were denied dignity.

Justice after 36 years is painfully late. But the greater obscenity is that those accused of engineering this terror were sanitised for decades as “separatists”, photographed with ex-prime ministers and marketed to India as voices of peace.
