Long ago I was asked if I would stop my criticisms of The Passion Translation if they changed the name to reflect that it isn’t really a translation.
I said no. But I might be willing to reconsider that.
If they named it after the author we could have a deal. Allow me to suggest that they name it after Brian Simmons to correctly distinguish that it’s his product and not the result of translating. This could communicate the value of the work well and avoid the confusion Brian has so far created.
I hereby suggest “The BS Version” as a working and accurate title.
@sesamestreet Guys, there is no universe in which it makes sense to message to children about sexual desires, regardless of worldview.
Stop and think about what you’re doing.
This one thing explains way more in our culture politically, culturally, and ecclesiologically (“with regard to the church”) than anyone probably wants to admit:
Until a man (in particular) has kids, he isn’t as emotionally tied to the future of society at a visceral level.
When a man has kids, it does something to his energy and produces a desperation to use his strength to ensure a better societal and ecclesiological future for his children and grandchildren to inherit.
Matthew McConaughey shared something beautiful and profound at Riverbend Church:
We are Christ’s body — each of us a different part, with different roles.
The foot doesn’t say “I’m not a hand, so I don’t belong.” The ear doesn’t say “I’m not an eye, so I’m worthless.” Every part is needed exactly where it is. The seemingly “lesser” parts are often the most essential. And when one part hurts, the whole body feels it. When one part thrives, the whole body rejoices.
No one is more important. No one is unnecessary.
In a world obsessed with comparison, status, and “main character energy,” this is a powerful reminder that real strength and meaning come from knowing your part and playing it well — together.
I’ve always loved how McConaughey delivers these kinds of truths — simple, deep, and human.
What do you think — do we need this kind of “body” mindset more than ever in today’s culture?
The pastorate will crush any man who isn't anchored in and regularly refreshed by the truth of the Gospel. I don't care how gifted a speaker or leader he is, how intellectually astute or go-getterish. He will not be able to shepherd the flock apart from Gospel-thick thinking and living.

Joe Rogan tells his guests he ENJOYS GOING TO CHURCH: "the place that I go to, they read and analyze passages in the bible," then talks more about his present view of Jesus and what it all means.
Allie Beth Stuckey puts on a masterclass on toxic empathy to 20 liberal Christians, explains how affirming transgenderism is destructive.
“If I feel so deeply how someone feels that I end up validating a lie, telling them something that's not true to make them feel better…”
“Or affirming what God calls sin, if it leads us to support destructive policies, policies that are bad for the individual, bad for society, then your empathy has led you to a really dangerous place, even if you started with good intentions.”
"Do you believe gay people should be celibate?”
All Christians are called to deny what the Bible calls sin. Every single Christian, in one way or another, is called to take up their cross, deny their flesh, and follow Christ.
I don't need fifteen hours to prepare a sermon. I can prepare a sermon in half an hour. I need fifteen hours to understand the text with clarity. It's hard to get to the point of clarity. You have to be driven to understand it. But, if you step into the pulpit with a substantially clear grasp of the biblical concept, it has a profound effect on how you preach. - John MacArthur Jr.
We are merely stewards of whatever gifts God has given to us in order to help our neighbors…we must submit concern for our own well-being to the good of others. – John Calvin
🚨 Steven Crowder MIC DROP.
MAN: When does the white fatigue kick in?!
CROWDER: We've been hearing about that all our lives! 'White fatigue, systemic discrimination.'
MAN: But nothing's ever been done.
CROWDER: "It HAS been done. We've done systemic justice reform that's led to more crime! That's the reason for no 3-strike policy, cashless bail, catch and release. The reason for it, in the wake of BLM, George Floyd - 'we're gonna reform the justice system'...and it's gotten worse EVERYWEHRE it's been."
"Then when white people leave those neighborhoods, well now it's 'white flight.' If they come in, it's 'gentrification.' A lot of people are pissed off, and they won't sit down and have this conversation and be real about it [like us]. They're going, well, what happens when someone has to keep their mouth shut about everything?"
Spend more time in the Bible than you do researching conspiracy theories & watching/engaging with the content of those that spew it.
Knowledge of God’s Word is far more important.
We need Biblical literacy now more than ever.
Voddie knew what issues divided us, and he knew how to biblically and scientifically attack the problem:
“Race is actually a social construct. The concept of race is not a biblical concept, it’s not a biblical idea.”
PREDICTION: You are going to see the Left become even more openly anti-Christian and aggressively secular and (I pray) the Right become more overtly Christian in the coming years.
Zero neutral ground.
