And then to speak of the administrative issues that have affected reconciliations.. I'm not saying others didn't use and abuse the system for their gain, but to apply a blanket approach is dangerous.. we risk crucifying those who earnestly took up the call to produce more.

As someone who participated in the mega farms project, I find the framing in the public discourse unfortunate. Agriculture by its nature is a gamble. Many of the farmers lost money due to unfavorable growing conditions and lower than expected yields.

Moreover the implementation of the project was rushed and many farmers received the necessary inputs and assistance too late for it to really be productive. And to speak of the broken promises of technical support for farmers - whom many were scaling up for the first time..
