All red cards given on field are automatically reviewed, usually to determine severity and to uphold the initial 1 match ban or extend that. In this case during the review the committee rightfully found that VAR was used beyond the power of the bylaws that it has.

And so without dismissing the referees decision FIFA suspended the ban as they determined the card never should have been issued in the first place.
