Turning our school ground spaces into green gardens with Farm@Aralan!
2,096 school parent beneficiaries of the DSWD Cash-for-Work/Training program in Valenzuela simultaneously worked on the school gardens this morning, in the 3rd week of the program implementation for Batch 2. Their task is to continue tending to the plants set by the first batch, plant more seedlings, and make organic fertilizer for a healthy harvest.
This Cash-for-Work/Training is a project under the DSWD's Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation program which aims to promote food security and ecological balance while providing livelihood for its beneficiaries.
Earlier today, beneficiaries of our Cash-for-Work/Training program, dubbed in Valenzuela as Farm@Aralan, harvested the fruits of their labor in our school-based urban gardens.
Some of the harvested vegetables were Mustasa, Okra, Sili, and Pechay.
These are the products of the combined efforts of our batch 1 and batch 2 beneficiaries, and these will be sold to the Valenzuela City Central Kitchen, which feeds our schoolchildren. In the coming weeks, we will harvest more from our Farm@Aralan schools!!!
