I really resent the characterisation as “gloating” of people saying “This is dreadful and we said it would be and you absolutely hammered us for saying so.” That’s not gloating. We’re not fucking happy about it.
Let Remainers drop the gloating while Brexiteers take their fingers out their ears.

Lewis is right that these are objectively expensive, but I will add that when he told me how much they cost i was surprised it wasn’t more. So there’s that.
There’s also a quick story on the pricing (spoiler: they’re expensive) and when you can expect the cans to be available in your region:

@paterfamilias Oddly enough as I say in the article I actually agree that Apple hates (or at least has a very mercenary position on) free speech. I just feel that the logic Musk uses to get there is faulty.
@paterfamilias And you say you’re not thin skinned, but how would you describe someone who complains to a media site for being insufficiently deferential to a troll billionaire?
@paterfamilias If Musk makes an allegation - that Apple is threatening to kick Twitter off the App Store and hates free speech, for example - then it’s on him to prove that. He didn’t, and admitted it was a “misunderstanding”. Why are you defending him over this? It’s a weird hill to die on.
@paterfamilias It was just a parade of wrongness, and I find it bizarre that you’re being so thin skinned on Musk’s behalf about the way in which I expressed my disagreement with it. So I ask again: how should I have disagreed?
@paterfamilias He said they were going to kick Twitter out of the App Store, then had to admit this was a “misunderstanding”. He said Apple was imposing a secret app fee, when it’s something that is extremely widely known, complained and litigated about and covered in the press
@paterfamilias To be clear, could you describe for me the appropriate response to someone expressing opinions you strongly disagree with, when they’ve expressed many other wildly uninformed views before and are clearly looking for attention? I think “weary disagreement” is reasonable.
@paterfamilias With people like Musk, even disagreement is a win, because their currency is attention. He isn’t entitled to a response, and I’d rather not give him one.
That’s nothing to do with the “threat to the magical community”, it’s because he’s a professional troll.
@paterfamilias I’m not shunning him, I’m engaging with his arguments in the marketplace of ideas. As the king of free speech I’m sure he would be in favour.
