This short thread shares two peer reviewed articles on what actually happens when trans kids come out at school in the UK.
Neither article has had any press coverage in a media that is both obsessed with, & ignorant about trans children in UK schools.
Pls read and share 1/6

This evening some of our members attended the vigil for Brianna Ghey.
Our hearts go out to everyone affected by both Brianna's death and all of the other trans lives that have been prematurely lost to hatred. Together we will grieve and fight so that more lives aren't lost.
If you're looking for a space to mourn and come together as a community following the tragic death of Brianna Ghey, the following vigils have been organised in cities across the UK.
If you know of others, please comment so people can join. π―οΈπ³οΈββ§οΈ

Today marks the start of Ace Week #AceWeek - a time to remind that the 'A' in LGBTQIA+ stands for asexual/aromantic (Ace/Aro) - not 'ally'.
Also a great time to listen to the voices of those who are asexual, aromantic, demisexual, and/or grey-asexual.
(2/2) and to offer love and support to all those unable to come out due to personal circumstances.
You identity is still valid, and worthy of respect, no matter who you do or do not share it with.
(Also - take a look at the thread above for some useful links for support π³οΈβππ³οΈββ§οΈ)
Happy National Coming Out Day π³οΈβπ
In an ideal world, no one would need to "come out" - but that's not the case, and being openly LGBTQIA+ still comes with its own risks, for so many people. So we take this day to celebrate the bravery of all those who are out (1/2)
Today we celebrate National Coming Out Day. π³οΈβπ
National Coming Out Day was first celebrated in 1988, a year after the National March on Washington for Lesbian and Gay rights.
Today we've seen positive steps towards trans equality in Scotland.Β π
