A feature we didn't initially plan for is Blessings. Every few levels you get to choose a randomized reward. You pick one of three options, drawn from a pool of 30 Blessings. Some of them are simple stats bonuses, while others can be quite run-altering!
What's cool about it is how those 30 options are composed. 10 are from your current class, and 10 are from a pool of generic options. The last 10 are based on the class of your chosen legacy character - which could be any of the three classes in the game.
This means that you may have a Flower Knight character that earns Blessings from either of the two other classes; unlocking some cool synergies and combos!
Normally, game development is full of revised features. Features that have to be cut, or revised into an entirely different shape.
Surprisingly, Bloodscript has seen very little of that. Yes, many features were cut before work started. We definitely killed off many ideas before they got into the code. Most notably: A Bestiary! That one still hurts!
But maybe prioritizing like this has helped. This way, we ended up with a pretty focused game, and with very little feature re-work.
The mission was always: Finish the game first, then build upon it. 🩶
"The Flower has long left the world. Yet its last knight still walks." 🌸
Become the Flower Knight.
A warrior who refuses to die. Hope prevails by relentlessly pushing forward. Every battle is fought with impossible grace and elegance. The Flower Knight has a natural aptitude for swift blades and forbidden magic.
Here's a look at the Flower Knight's selection screen, ultimate technique, and one of the many visual descriptions for this class.

One feature we love is that certain Relics replace the classic @ display of your character with a different glyph; representing a special type of armor worn by the player.
Here is us, equipping the Princess' Guard Armor, which changes our appearance to Ʃ! 🌸

Blessing selection!
Every few levels, you are able to select a Blessing; a powerful ability or skill that can shape your run.
You get three choices from a pool of options. The pool is populated by your class, and your legacy's class.

Mike Babcock was asked by @JasonGregor how he doesn't repeat interactions like he had in the past. Babs says his tone, not necessarily his intentions, has caused problems:
“Being hard on people, a lot of times being hard is confused with telling the truth. I think when a kid sits at your kitchen table as one of your children, and they ask you a question, you should tell them. That's called love.
"Sometimes the truth is hard for them, no matter what happens when you coach, when you scratch people, when you sit them out, when they're at the end of your career, and you don't play them, it's hard for them, for sure. You try to do that as respectfully as you can.
“Why? Because you think you're a good human being, that's the right thing to do. Sometimes it's not perceived that way, but I think the other thing is, and I thought Stan said it, great, anytime you're out of something, you sit back, and you have perspective, you're allowed to grow as a human being, you're out to get better, and I think that's what this league's all about, is getting better.
"The other thing I said and reiterated is, my children are at the age in their careers, they got an opinion on it, and they sure got an opinion on their dad and what he says and his tone, and how to be respectful. I actually don't think my intentions are wrong that often. I think sometimes my tone is..."

There were many inspirations for Bloodscript//END. Dark Souls is certainly one of them. It found its way into some of the core combat, but most importantly into our environmental storytelling and classic item descriptions.
