please don't make them feel crazy, it makes sense to them. and more often, they're battling this idea of being crazy themselves. assume rationality, because there is rationality.
and find a balance of expectations and what the other person has the capacity to do. It's less likely an issue of intention- more often capacity. With anxiety, I cannot emphasize enough:
reassurances, reassurances, reassurances.
which can be very annoying I know, but every person in a relationship has issues/traumas personal to them that the other person has to learn to deal with. imp to communicate and understand if the other person has the emotional energy to deal with it the way needed.
If you're dating someone with anxiety I can't emphasize enough how important *re-assurances* are.
Their measure of reasonable inferences of events is not the same as yours. They're not being irrational, they are just good at convincing themselves the logic of improbable events.
and no i’m not talking about people who make it obvious they’re emotionally unavailable. no. this person will be trying to convince themselves they’re ready to move on, whole time they’re not. they do the whole song and dance of a relationship with you too, dreaming about them.
i decided to stop dating when i found out there are people who date you for 3 months or more while not being over their ex in the slightest. like the whole time they are still in love with someone else and trying to convince you that they aren’t. i’m- no thank you.
