The Meadows is a small primary school in Madeley Heath. Our children care for one another, their school environment, community and the world which we all share.
The Owl class had a fantastic time @CadburyWorld on Monday. We all learnt lots of interesting facts about how the chocolate is made, about the packaging, about the people that work there and also the history of Cadburys chocolate. We even managed to taste some chocolate. ππ«
Years 3, 4 & 5 have had a great morning up at @leycettcc this morning competing in rounders, football, dodgeball and lacrosse provided by Mr Skellern & @ASMSportsuk . The children really enjoyed themselves and showed some great sportsmanship skills.
Some of the Kingfishers have been having fun learning all about time. This morning we have looked at o'clock and half past. Super work guys, showing great determination, just like our power maths character 'Dexter'.
In Owl class this morning, the children have started a new unit-decimals. To help us with our learning we have been using 10 frames and place value grids. The children did a great job at converting fractions to the equivalent decimal.
The children at The Early years have really been enjoying our new role play area 'The bakery'. After visiting a small victorian bakery at Blist Hill on our school trip, it gave us some inspiration. The children have been busy baking and painting the items to sell in their bakery.
The badgers, foxes and fox cubs have had a very exciting start to their afternoon. Mr Harper kindly bought his digger to show the children which links in with our new construction play area. He showed them lots of tricks and moves which the children loved. Many thanks Mr Harper.

The children's Music lesson is in full swing. They have started to get ready for their Ukalale concert and already they are making my eye water with pride.

Kingfisher Class have had a fantastic time at Blists Hill Victorian Town, especially experiencing the school room! We enjoyed visiting the shops and seeing traditional crafts.
Today we looked at networks during our ICT lesson. We looked at what a network is and how it works. In the photos below you can see that the children made a network web and participated in a network safari around the school. Lots of practical experience in today's lessons.
Kingfisher class have been learning about Florence Joyner and her amazing achievements. We tried to run 100m in the same time as her and realised just how quick she was!

Well done to all who have joined in with 'The Meadows Big March' challenge this week, where we were aiming to walk 1,000,000 steps as a community to raise money for the @DougieMacStoke. I can reveal that we have smashed our target and achieved 2,215,244 steps! Well done. πππ
