@LDN_pressoffice@metpoliceuk@MayorofLondon Very annoyed at the BBC news footage depicting a young black boy being arrested for phone theft. I work in central London and have seen at least 8 people be mugged for their phones. Not one of the criminals that I witnessed was a black boy. Tired of the same old narrative!

Collaborative Planning: Designing Learning That Works
One of the most powerful ways we can impact student achievement is by designing learning together. When we intentionally plan units and lessons as a team, we ensure that every student receives the benefit of our collective expertise.
Research continues to show the power of strong instructional design:
•John Hattie’s work on Visible Learning reminds us that teacher collective efficacy and intentional planning are among the highest-impact influences on student achievement. @VisibleLearning
•Grant Wiggins & Jay McTighe’s Understanding by Design (UbD) framework challenges us to start with the end in mind. clarifying what we want students to know and be able to do, then planning lessons that get them there. @jaymctighe
•Doug Lemov’s Teach Like a Champion strategies provide practical moves to make Tier 1 instruction precise, rigorous, and engaging every day. @Doug_Lemov
•Robert Marzano’s research underscores the need for clear learning targets, aligned tasks, and opportunities for students to practice and receive feedback. @robertjmarzano
At Quist Middle School, @RQMSRoyals we are committed to using our common planning time to:
•Design high-quality units with clear learning goals and meaningful assessments.
•Build daily lessons that use research-based strategies to maximize student engagement and thinking.
•Anticipate misconceptions and plan scaffolds so every student can access grade-level content.
•Align instruction across classrooms so students have a consistent, coherent learning experience.
We currently have an hour per week (plus three hours of common plan time per day) dedicated to this work…and that time matters. When we design together, we give students the best chance to grow, thrive, and succeed.
This is how we take student achievement to the next level: by being intentional, consistent, and collaborative in how we plan learning every single week.

January 20th was our traditional ‘Bright Monday’ here at Johanna. We brightened up our January with silly face photos in assembly, bright and colourful activities, a focus on wellbeing and a dance party after school. ‘Blue Monday?’ - not for us. 🙌🏽 🌈
