Year 5 had a fantastic time at @guiseleyschool yesterday for the STEM day. It was a brilliant opportunity to visit a high school and take part in some lessons. They were great representatives of our school - we’re very proud! We’re ready for our mission to Mars! 🚀 #QueenswaySTEM
As part of our Sports Week, Year 5/6 enjoyed workshops from the MVMNT team. This morning, we took part in Ultimate Frisbee, followed by American Football this afternoon. It was so much fun and very exciting! #QueenswayPE
Year 5 thoroughly enjoyed their cheerleading workshop on Monday with Danielle from MVMNT. It was so much fun and they loved performing their routine to the rest of school at the end of the day! #QueenswayPE
Last week, Year 5/6 enjoyed creating a website in Computing. They built up their skills and included photos, facts, buttons, links and a navigation path. Lots of interesting websites created! #QueenswayComputing

Year 5 have loved their first Forest School session with @GoWildOutdoors this week. We made our own dens and created stretchers. It was so much fun using these to have races! #QueenswayForestSchool
Year 5 have had lots of fun measuring different real-life angles this morning. They identified the types of angles before measuring them with a protractor. Great mathematical work guys! #QueenswayMaths
We are so excited to welcome our new ducklings into school this week. Year 5/6 loved meeting them and getting to stroke them! As part of our Science unit, we are looking at the life cycles of different animals so this was very informative! #QueenswayScience

This afternoon, Year 5/6 explored macro photography and light & shadows. They captured great close-up photos of fruit in abstract forms, before editing them in the style of Edward Weston. It was brilliant opportunity to showcase their creative talents! #QueenswayArt@kapowprimary
This was such a fun hook into teaching balanced arguments. My class were great at getting involved and firing back with their arguments to win the discussion. Lots of fun!
Year 5 have kickstarted their new writing unit about balanced argument by having a debate. We transformed a WAGOLL about ‘Should we always tell the truth?’ into a live discussion and went head-to-head. Lots of great arguments were brought to the table! #QueenswayEnglish
I love teaching this unit of Computing. Watching the children tinkering with the Crumbles and applying their prior coding knowledge of Scratch to code a physical computer is great! @WeAreComputing

Year 5/6 enjoyed a walk around the local area and Nunroyd Park this week. As part of our Geography learning, we explored how population impacts our environment. We mapped out a route to take and then collected our data. It was a lovely frosty morning. 🗑️❄️ #QueenswayGeography
Year 5/6 have been busy experimenting with different electrical equipment in Science as part of their new unit looking at connecting circuits. They made some successful circuits and connected lots of different components. #QueenswayScience
In Year 5/6 today, we used everyday classroom objects to create an installation and worked together to problem solve as we constructed our pieces. We have had loads of fun! #QueenswayArt
Year 5/6 took to the hall to create mini installation pieces inside their cardboard box. Taking inspiration from the artist Cai Guo-Qiang, they experimented with materials to investigate space and scale. What was left was fab artwork but plenty of glitter! #QueenswayArt
