Hey you! Are you going to Megacon Birmingham 2026?
If you're and Resident Evil fan, artist, or cosplayer, be on the lookout for a random guy with a bag of Leon Kennedy stickers! โญ They're 100% FREE!
I want to meet as many fans as I can, so come say hi!
I think artists who shit on the use of 3D as process is missing the point that an amateur using 3D will STILL look like amateur art.
They dont suddenly just become professional artists. It still requires understanding fundamentals to break them. 3D tracing doesn't change that.
@DorisKluin Tracing and projection have been part of a widely accepted creative practice for as long as the tools for it have existed, across mediums! In the end, QRTing someone's art to "flex" on them is never going to be a good way to start a meaningful discussion about artistic merit.
What a shitty way to talk to fellow artists. Every working artist I talk to (especially in comics and illustration) has studied anatomy intensively, and still use 3D in some capacity. Not everyone has the time to hop online and be an elitist on twitter, they have a job to do.
Anyways..... The main problem with tracing a 3D model is that your skills are still at zero. The similarity between you and the AI dudes is that instead of learning actual skills, you resort to a simple oneโclick solution. Go study anatomy and perspective, you lazy ass๐คทโโ๏ธ
@goofpin02 I feel the same about the process being half the fun, and study shouldn't be ignored. But for hobby artists who are still developing their creative practice, I think it's perfectly fine to experiment and have fun with tools available to you. It's nobody's business but theirs!
@DorisKluin I donโt deny that some artists use 3D to avoid learning anatomy, but regardless, people are free to approach their creative practice however they want! 3D is not the same as using AI. Theyโll figure out the gaps in their knowledge soon enough, but not if people are bullying them.
