Were you the “good kid” who “parents never had to worry about”?
Watch out for those kids. They may turn up in therapy 10-20 years later with repressed emotions, overfunctioning, and the inability to ask for help because they’ve always had to be perfect.
When you start viewing yourself from a place of compassion, you’ll see your behaviors are attempts to to stay safe or meet a need.
