MegaThread Rant of everything wrong with this trade that I can think of after 50 minutes of staring at my wall as a passionate and disgruntled Charlotte Hornets Fan (95% of this made 11+ Hours ago)
BREAKING: The Charlotte Hornets are trading star guard LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps (2028, 2029, 2030) and three second-round picks (2029, 2032, 2033), sources tell ESPN.
What would change that would make the offers better?
The Bucks tried for weeks to see if they could reroute Jaylen Brown in a potential 3 teamer and realized that nobody is willing to give up a godfather offer for the 40th best player in the NBA making a supermax
NBA and NHL free agency tweets are so different itโs hilarious:
Shams: Jersey swap + long, colourful description of the transaction, sometimes in multiple tweets.
Friedman: โBobrovsky to TOR. 3x7โ
Ive never seen a fan base so committed to acting like it's impossible to improve a roster. Jeff could have added a 4 and 5 at the deadline and made a team capable of competing in the playoffs. But he didn't and now people are pretending it was never an option.
@djdotmp4 If โfirst round pickโ turns into plural first round picks then yes send him to a team that needs him more than us.
1 first round pick from the Knicks or a weak Utah via another team 1st rounder ainโt doing it
@MurrayTyle58341@Platinumslugz_@RedStallion41@NoNarrative1 If top 7 Player Ant can only get you to the โ8th seedโ your rosters arenโt good enough.
Only T7 caliber players that werenโt a T6 seed last year were Giannis & Kawhi (Traded from bad rosters) & 43 GP Steph. Please tell us more about โDog in emโ ratings tho bud. ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
@djdotmp4 Yep agreed; tho in 3 seasons when (Giannis,Kawhi Kat,Embiid, & Siakam) will all be 33-38) then itโs go time
Jeffโs yapping about one step a time; weโll know when to go all in, final step better be in 2029.
If you canโt make the offs once in 5 years as a GM you gotta get axed.
@IchimokuSatoshi@Mikethejohnson I donโt hate moving off of Lamelo for your reasons stated and I could sell myself on it if we added a Deni archetype whoโs like a perfect inverse.
We instead got weaker at his strengths and fixed none of his weaknesses by adding Anderson Jr, Steinbach, Allen, Oโneale, & Reid
It's one thing to say Lamelo's health can't be trusted and that's why you move on from him. But I don't know how you watched last season and conclude his play was somehow holding the Hornets back. I'm seeing too many takes on the TL making an "addition by subtraction" argument.
@comadreja_clt Weโve got none of that playmaking weโre probably gonna be bottom 10 in AST imo (I get that itโs not everything) which = more isolation & PnR buckets which I like Coby/Kon/Brandon but thatโs closer to 3 SGโs than a normal PG/SG/SF lineup & east defenses are way too good for that
@comadreja_clt 100% with the PFโs but the necessity point works big time in the inverse against Coby white here
For instance the Luka/Lebron 25-26 Lakers; Theyโve got more than enough elite playmaking so Coby Whiteโs similar scoring stats on better efficiency $15 mil cheaper that works
