A man, whose identity and age remain unverified by NBC News, has been taken to Katima Mulilo State Hospital following an incident in which an excavator fell on him in the Macaravani West area, located between Namib Mills and the Namibia Brewers depot.
According to a traffic officer present at the scene, the excavator fell from a truck after it lost balance while travelling along an unserviced road. It is reported that the excavator landed on the victim, who had been a passenger in the truck, after he exited the vehicle to check if the unsecured excavator was properly balanced.
The man sustained injuries to his leg and face. He was rescued at the scene and transported to the hospital for medical treatment.
While the driver holds a valid licence, the truck transporting the excavator was discovered to be in violation of road regulations, resulting in the driver’s arrest.
