🚨🇲🇽MEXICAN MAYOR MURDERED HOURS AFTER FIRST FEMALE PRESIDENT ELECTED

Gunmen killed Yolanda Sánchez, the female mayor of Cotija, just hours after Claudia Sheinbaum was elected as Mexico’s first woman president.

Sánchez, who governed since September 2021, was ambushed and shot 19 times in Cotija, Michoacán. Her bodyguard was also killed.

The attackers are believed to belong to an organized crime group.

Sánchez had received death threats and was kidnapped in 2023 by armed men linked to the Jalisco New Generation cartel (CJNG), notorious for targeting officials who resist them.

Over 20 candidates have been killed since September, with some reports suggesting the number is closer to 40.
