Saturday 20 Sept. 2025, I had the honor and privilege of announcing my candidacy for the NC-11 US Congressional District.

We were blessed with the opportunity to serve our neighbors of Western North Carolina during the Helene rescue and recovery efforts. I watched first hand just how inefficient the bureaucracy truly is.

I have no desire to be a politician, but I simply won’t sit on the sidelines while weak representation refuse to stand up for their district.

The next 5 months are going to be a heavy lift. However I know my neighbors and the residents of WNC are ready for someone who’s willing to talk straight, stand our ground on the values we hold so dear, and push back on the nonsense constantly being pushed by insanity of the left.

Just over a month has passed since Western North Carolina was devastated by Hurricane Helene. Swannanoa, Savage Freedoms Relief Operations formed from the ground up, as well as much of Buncombe county, were left in the wake of destruction. Many families lost everything; some even lost loved ones.

From across the country, your outpouring support has been humbling. Thank you to every single person, agency, and organization that’s shown up—whether in those critical first hours or still showing up today—to restore resources like power and water, clear roads, conduct wellness checks, and get essential supplies to those who need them most—with Savage Freedoms or likewise. Even as the media moves on, we’re in this together, and the work is far from over.

In the aftermath of disaster, the immediate search and rescue operations are just the beginning. As the rescue efforts wind down, focus shifts to recovery, then the rebuilding phase starts. It is going to take a lot to rebuild these communities in WNC. There are roads and driveways to fix and structures and piles of debris to clear. People urgently need temporary and permanent housing. Right now, we’re focused on bringing in tiny homes, campers, and RVs to provide immediate shelter as winter approaches. The unfortunate reality for those requiring more than an emergency repair permit is that they are facing a hard wait for floodplain remapping and rezoning decisions before they can rebuild. We are grateful to be able to still be here helping and have resources left to assist with rebuilding homes and businesses!

As of today, Savage Freedoms Relief Operations has raised $600,000! And that doesn’t even include the value of the millions of pounds of donated supplies that have been received. What we have done with the materials and skilled labor contributed by generous people and volunteers has allowed every dollar to be allocated to maximize impact. We are tirelessly working to rebuild lives, homes, and hope!

Had a chance today to speak with former President @realDonaldTrump, as well as continue to keep our promise to not let WNC be forgotten.

I've said it again we have a chance to make a serious change. This is a hat I do not want to wear, and have been told by many who are close to me that when God chooses those to move mountains it's often the most unlikely, and to not push back against it.

I get to wear the hat now as we continue to move forward in our efforts to help WNC rebuild while also working hard to make changes at the National level with regards to the National Disaster Response Strategy.
