On Imran Khan’s illegal confinement, Sheikh Waqas Akram strongly condemned the continued illegal and inhumane treatment of PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan, who has now spent 1,054 days in custody, including 233 days in complete solitary confinement—a clear violation of the United Nations Mandela Rules. He also highlighted that Bushra Bibi has been subjected to 788 days of illegal detention.

He pointed out that the jail administration’s criminal negligence has already caused a 5% loss of eyesight for Imran Khan, with medical experts warning of a serious risk of total and irreversible blindness without immediate specialized intervention. Sheikh Waqas Akram described this as medical sadism by the state. He further noted that since October 2025, Imran Khan has been denied access to his lawyers, family members, and even the basic right to sign legal documents for his Supreme Court appeal.

Sheikh Waqas Akram demanded the immediate transfer of Imran Khan to a proper medical facility for a thorough examination under the supervision of his personal physicians, including Dr. Faisal Sultan, with at least one family member present. He also demanded immediate post-operative care for Bushra Bibi on humanitarian grounds and full restoration of Imran Khan’s right to legal counsel and family visits.

He announced that PTI will pursue all available legal avenues against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the Punjab Government, and the relevant jail authorities for endangering Imran Khan’s health and life. Sheikh Waqas Akram also demanded the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, and other leaders, who are victims of fabricated cases and a politically motivated witch hunt.

Sheikh Waqas Akram concluded that a government that steals its people’s mandate, loots welfare funds meant for the poorest, breaks its word in sensitive regions, and subjects its main political rival to prolonged solitary confinement and medical neglect has forfeited every shred of moral, legal, and constitutional authority to govern. The Form 47 regime stands exposed before the nation and history.

PTI Rejects Shahbaz Sharif’s Desperate Legitimacy Charade, Exposes BISP Mega-Scam, Condemns AJK Neglect, and Demands Justice for Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: Sheikh Waqas Akram, Secretary Information of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has categorically rejected the latest round of misleading and self-incriminating statements made by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif on the floor of the National Assembly. In a display of selective memory and political acrobatics, Shahbaz Sharif attempted to equate the current Form 47 regime with the 2018 elections, claiming that if one was legitimate, so is the other. Sheikh Waqas Akram stated that PTI views this not as a defence but as a tacit admission that the February 2024 elections witnessed one of the most brazen thefts of the people’s mandate in the nation’s history.

He noted that while founder Imran Khan had, immediately after the 2018 elections, publicly offered to open the results of any constituency for independent investigation if the opposition harboured doubts, the current rulers hide behind state institutions, terrified of any forensic audit, biometric verification, or transparent scrutiny of their stolen victory. If Shahbaz Sharif truly believes his own rhetoric, Sheikh Waqas Akram asked, why does his government recoil at the mere suggestion of an independent examination of the 2024 results? The answer, he said, lies in the fragile foundation of Form 47 itself.

Sheikh Waqas Akram issued a direct challenge to the regime to conduct a full, transparent, and judicially supervised audit of both the 2018 and 2024 elections so that the people of Pakistan and the world can see whose claim to public trust is genuine.

On the BISP scandal, Sheikh Waqas Akram expressed profound outrage over the Auditor General of Pakistan’s audit report for financial year 2024-25, which has exposed massive irregularities and plunder in the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). More than Rs. 25 billion has been disbursed through suspicious and illegal channels. Even more shockingly, Rs. 3.177 billion was spent without parliamentary approval or ICPC clearance, a clear case of financial lawlessness.

He described this as systematic daylight robbery. Through deliberate manipulation of data systems and spouse data profiling, over 600,000 ineligible individuals—including government employees, the well-to-do, and vehicle owners—have siphoned off funds meant for the poorest widows, orphans, and destitute families. The Form 47 regime, he said, has converted a lifeline for the vulnerable into a feeding trough for its own bureaucratic elite.

Sheikh Waqas Akram demanded an immediate Supreme Court-monitored judicial inquiry into the entire BISP scandal, full recovery of every rupee from all involved officials with the harshest legal action, and the suspension and criminal prosecution of all BISP officials and IT personnel responsible for data tampering.

On Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Sheikh Waqas Akram expressed deep alarm over the rapidly deteriorating political and administrative situation in the region. He strongly condemned the government’s criminal negligence and its refusal to engage sincerely with the Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), choosing instead the path of force, arbitrary arrests, and inflammatory rhetoric. This approach, he warned, is pushing the sensitive region towards greater instability and public alienation.

He stated that the administration’s non-serious attitude and blatant disregard for previous commitments have completely eroded public trust. Sheikh Waqas Akram reiterated that the only sustainable solution lies in genuine political dialogue, immediate implementation of past agreements, and an end to high-handed tactics.
