NIGERIA NEEDS A TRANSFORMATIVE RULING CLASS
Countries don’t become great simply because they have natural resources. They become great when a generation of leaders decides to build a country bigger than themselves.
Look at America. In 1776, its founding generation declared independence, and by 1787 they had produced a Constitution whose basic framework still governs America more than 200 years later.
Look at Britain. Over generations, political power was gradually subjected to Parliament, law and institutions. The system became stronger than individual rulers.
Look at France. After revolution and repeated political crises, the French repeatedly redesigned their institutions. In 1958, Charles de Gaulle helped establish the Fifth Republic, which still structures French government today.
Look at Singapore. Its leaders inherited a small country with few natural resources but focused on education, infrastructure, investment, competent government and industrialization. Within a generation, Singapore became one of the world’s most prosperous countries.
Look at Rwanda. Whatever criticisms we may have about its political system, its post-genocide leadership demonstrated the importance of security, planning, public administration, infrastructure and disciplined implementation.
Look also at Japan and South Korea. Both suffered devastating wars, yet their leadership invested heavily in education, manufacturing, technology and infrastructure and transformed their economies.
Now look at Nigeria.
Our political class has largely been organized around sharing wealth rather than creating wealth.
That is why appointments are celebrated like lottery winnings.
That is why becoming governor, minister, senator or president is often treated as an opportunity for access, influence and connections.
That is why we spend enormous energy debating WHO should control Nigeria instead of discussing WHAT Nigeria should become.
America had a founding generation.
France had generations that redesigned its political institutions.
Singapore had a developmental generation.
Rwanda had a rebuilding generation.
Japan and South Korea had industrializing generations.
Where is Nigeria’s transformative generation?
Nigeria will not fundamentally change simply because we replace one politician with another while maintaining the same incentives and expectations.
We need a ruling class prepared to change the structure, strengthen institutions, reward production, confront corruption and build a country where government exists to create opportunities, not simply distribute national resources.
Nigeria doesn’t just need another president. Not a Tinubu Obi or Atiku can single-handedly fix Nigeria, it requires a team, selfless political elites to come together to promote a public good for the national interest. This was what happened in Philadelphia.
Nigeria needs a generation prepared to redesign Nigeria.
That may be the real revolution we are waiting for.
How do you fix a broken glass? Pass through high intense heat, it melts and then you can remold. Nigeria is broken, it cannot be fixed it needs remolding
One reason it is hard to fix and redeem Africa from shenanigans and her oppressors is because while in one hand you are fighting to rescue the people, on the other hand it is some of your own comrades who out of greed and personal gain, partner with the oppressors and their machineries in media to fight and rubbish your efforts. I call young people who fall within this category co conspirators. History will remember them in its course. This group of young people are Africas greatest problem going forward. They betray the fight for freedom. The independence fights of the 60s succeeded because the young people stood together against the colonizers, but we fail today because too many greedy young people prefer to align with the oppressors against the freedom of the majority because of crumbs they pick from the excessive waste of government largesse. With these co conspirators it will be difficult to win the fight for freedom. God in his mercies will rescue our land at the appropriate time.
Good morning Africa!
Why waste time funding INEC to conduct elections, let us assign that responsibility to Supreme Court. At least once verdict/result is announced after elections we know it is over.
Our biggest problem are not the Tinubu’s, INEC or compromised courts, our biggest problem are young people who for greed and personal gain encourage our oppressors to perpetuate oppression. I choose to refer to them as “co conspirators”. History will remember all different ways.
What you see happening in Rivers State was the main reason we fought so hard to kick these guys out of power. Unfortunately the battle was bigger than we planned, they also had the courts and inec with them. We will return
Based on abuse of power, and disregard to institutions without consequence, Nigerias president is the most powerful in the world. If he decides to remove a CJN or Senate President he achieves that in less than 21 days based on trumped up charges. Show me who can sack a President!
Nigerians are gullible. They tell you they are bringing $14b investment from India and u believe? India is far more fertile for investment with economic stability. Why will an investor prefer a Boko haram territory to India? An announcement coinciding with tribunal. What a scam!
The Nigerian Judiciary is under public trial. Will they survive it? Do they have the judicial capacity to stand their ground and do the right thing? It may be easier for a camel to walk on the edge of a needle than the judiciary be objective. All eyes on the judiciary
I don’t think any amount of scandal that can bring down a Nigerian Politician. Age falsification will be thrown out by courts, video conversations or voice will be laughed at. Even if a politician falsified his degree, it means nothing. Crime has become part of society.

All in the name of restoring order and democracy, we are ready to put boots on the ground and hand our brothers back to colonial masters so the exploitation, intimidation and broad daylight theft of our resources continues. What a national and Regional shame!
