1. Charter schools ARE public schools.
2. They didn't "pick off" anything. Families chose them.
3. If 200K+ families made a similar decision in one year, we should ask why
4. If more charters were available and had space, the change would've been bigger

When something as basic as allowing parents the right to #Schoolchoice can improve daily attendance, academic performance, social and emotional health as it decreases discipline issues and improves graduation rates, there can be no humane justification for its denial.
You can’t be a child advocate and be against any type of school. You can’t be for kids and be against homeschooling, neighborhood, charter, vo tech, vo ag, magnet, religious or schools yet to be developed. If you love kids you love good schools.
I fight for #schoolchoice bc I know that over 100 yrs of research has made it clear that no school type or design can serve all kids’ learning, social and emotional needs.
"The flexibility and adaptability of a charter public school provides educators the freedom from bureaucracy to design an education that can help your child succeed in college, career, and life." Hear more from @MyrnaCastrejon in her @LAParentMag Op-Ed: https://t.co/J5fj0oNc1s
I just recently finished my 20th year as a college professor, and still have anxiety dreams where I'm a student and it's the end of the term and I haven't gone to class all semester, ask me anything.
I find it funny when #SchoolChoice opponents say, “fundamental conservatives are pushing a radical agenda to transform public education!”
That doesn’t sound much like conservatism.
School choice is funny like that. It doesn’t neatly break into traditional political ideologies
Democrats, do you have any educational agenda items that have not been handed to you by teachers’ unions?
Show me a traditional school district that doesn’t contract with for-profit entities.
Is there a more egregious example of the absolute lie of teachers’ unions than watching them call for cutting funds to charter schools bc the teachers in them don’t pay union dues?
Imagine if the government paid for your food but you could only shop at the grocery store to which they assigned you, and it’s illegal to go elsewhere.
And this is how public education works.
