A Touch of Red is inspired by a sculpture in our allotment - stones piled on top of one another with flowers weaving around them. These red daisies (marguerites) are cut out shapes from my own collaged paper and the stones are lightly textured. Mixed-media original painting available: https://t.co/W0sjGbZjMb
A sunset art revolution: new sunset panoramas created using monotype printmaking. My working method is undergoing a mini-revolution: instead of working light to dark, I'm now experimenting with working dark to light. See more, read more, in this blog post https://t.co/BVmLbGcrz9
Having Field Day - blog post : find out how I create my patchwork landscapes using low-tech printing methods. Of all the different subjects I've worked on these countryside views seem to have captured the popular imagination. They give the sense of a real view but using a unique visual language. https://t.co/Cn5Lh8qLY6
A Sea Change: mixed media flower paintings. A fresh direction in my work: hand-cut collage, layered stencils, drawn lines, and textured surfaces, all shaped by my love of coastal walks. These mixed-media pieces explore contrast - crisp floral forms set against soft, natural backgrounds. Read more on this blog post https://t.co/NSLrEAUMwt
Suppertime: Part of my British birds range. A beautiful song thrush sits in the sunlit woodland. Just once I saw a thrush bashing a snail on a stone to get a tasty meal! Greetings cards available https://t.co/WVwEYKptSx
Spotted (fallow deer): As children, my brother and I made animal encyclopedias -drawing & colouring animals, cutting them out and sticking them onto an information sheet giving all the facts about that species. Happy days before children had phones and computer games! Painting with collage now sold.
White Cat with Pink Nerines: the elements of this collage painting bring together memories of a visit to Nunnington Hall gardens in autumn. There were trees and vines laden with fruit and glorious pink nerines filled every sunny spot. Original available https://t.co/glxvIPMoSM
Up the Garden Path: This piece recalls a formal winter garden I visited in Yorkshire, with a ginger cat lounging among the plants and seedheads. The composition draws your eye down the garden path to the ornate gate, inviting you to explore. Painting with collage available https://t.co/WJrzguXT9o
On the Edge was inspired by a view in Yorkshire where I saw a tree clinging on for dear life. There's something about these lone trees in extreme conditions that seems to relate to our tenacity in the face of turbulant times. #yorkshire https://t.co/kDhILpru2L
Under the Arches: We always had a cat when I was growing up; when I was 13 we got a white kitten called Suzy who was completely mad and loved to play with me! She brought us great joy, animating the garden with her antics. Original available https://t.co/YXtocoZawG
Flower Power: I surpised myself with these bold flowers in acrylic inks and collage as they're so exuberant and different from anything else I've produced! It's found a happy home in the kitchen of a local couple. They tell me it brings them joy every day! I love my job!
Colonisers represents foxgloves in a garden setting - maybe one with some ruins that nature has claimed. I love the lime green/magenta contrast. Foxgloves in the countryside always have that striking pop of colour that stops you in your tracks. Original available https://t.co/sslSu7EGnA
The White Hart, a rare white red deer stag, steeped in myth and mystery. In Arthurian legend, it symbolised the endless spiritual quest — something just out of reach, always calling you forward. But here’s a question… has anyone ever actually seen a real one in the wild? Acrylic painting with collage🦌✨ https://t.co/n6NgLn1fzl
In On the Prowl, the patterns in the ground seem to echo the leopard's spots. I enjoyed finding new ways to paint the spots with expression and realism at the same time. This beautiful big cat contrasts with the clear blue of the sky. Original painting now sold.
Head in the Clouds: Giraffes have the most amazing silhouettes! I couldn't resist making a mother and baby beside the waterhole. I created sheets of spotted paper to cut and collage. I've seen real ones at Whipsnade Zoo - unbelievably tall! Available https://t.co/WffcaZ55k1
Guardians: A delicate tracery suggests the wrought iron spirals of an ornamental gate. The thorny silhouettes of the purple thistles in the foreground seem to guard the way. Meanwhile, a cat pads quietly through the dry grass, on patrol. Prints available: https://t.co/QoA67FXPbF
Eye of the Tiger: I gave this tiger more detail and realism than some of my more simple animal shapes. The tree gives a suggestion of a leafy habitat. Part of a big cats series. Original painting with collage now sold. https://t.co/6mkqIOAP4p
Making Waves: seascape prints in progress. There’s something timeless about the Northumberland coast: the light, the atmosphere, the history. In this blog post, I share the process of making monotype prints inspired by Bamburgh and Lindisfarne. Poppies Bathed in Gold: Capturing the luminous stillness of late summer, when poppies dance in the garden’s golden haze. Layers of acrylic paint and collage evoke the warmth, serenity, and fleeting beauty of dusk—a celebration of nature’s quiet splendour. https://t.co/YSpvvuVdsd
