Ale teraz poviem niečo odvážne. Čo keby bol Viktor Orbán predsedom Európskej komisie, Európskej rady? On má víziu, a myslím si, že to je veľmi dôležité pre politika, aby mal víziu. Nie je isté, že s ním súhlasíme, a v Maďarsku s ním pravdepodobne väčšina už nesúhlasí, pretože na vlastnej koži cíti jeho požehnané účinky. Ale musím povedať, že v Európe, nie medzi politikmi, ale medzi ľuďmi, je Viktor Orbán populárny.

Hungarians have no idea what they've just lost in Viktor Orban.

People spent years saying that Orban was a dictator and an autocrat.

He just called Magyar to concede the elections without claiming fraud or trying to rig the system.

Hungary has always been a democracy. Orban was never a dictator like the media said. He was a great man and an incredible leader.

And now, Hungary just gave that all away to a man that NO ONE knows what to expect from.

You're going to miss what you had, Hungary.

I hope Magyar keeps the migrants out... or Budapest is going to turn into "Buss-it-open-apest" just like Paris, London and Berlin where you get raped walking out of the train station.

May God save the Hungarian people.

HUNGARIAN UPDATE

Sad day for Hungary.

Orban and Fidesz will lose.

The question now is whether Tisza will be able to get supermajority and undo much of the good that Fidesz has done.

I was wrong in my prediction and will not delete a single tweet. Sometimes predictions are just wrong--look at all of those who predicted a Harris landslide. That's life and I will own it.

I'm much more worried for the future of Hungary and of Europe.

Why was I wrong?

Well, looks like the anti-Orban sentiment, perception of corruption, and desire for change were much stronger than I predicted.

Polling was still wildly off, predicting a 20+ point margin, but looks like Tisza will get about 10 point margin.

Only half of votes are counted, but given the system in Hungary I don't see a way out.

A bright note on a very dark day for conservatism is that this should dispel the notion that Fidesz and @PM_ViktorOrban would just steal the election.

Will have more updates. Keep the faith. Keep fighting. Grow conservatism around the world. Today was a loss. But we have many more victories in store.

Off to Rome!
