Today is a dark, sinister day for democracy, a day when @BJP4India revealed their disdain for the people of Bengal, their disregard for the rights of the poor and a complete abandonment of democratic values.

First, they callously withheld crucial funds meant for the poor of Bengal and when our delegation arrived in Delhi, determined to peacefully protest and draw attention to the plight of our people, they were met with brutality – first at Rajghat and then at Krishi Bhavan.

The Delhi Police, acting as the BJP's strong-arm, shamelessly manhandled our representatives who were forcibly removed and whisked away in police vans like common criminals, all because they dared to speak truth to power. Their arrogance knows no bounds and their pride and egotism have blinded them. They have now crossed all limits to repress the voice of Bengal!

India's incredible medal haul in the ongoing 19th Asian Games at Hangzhou (China) continues and stands at 14 medals in 3 days!

Extremely proud of the Indian team of Anush Agarwalla, Hriday Vipul Chheda & Divyakriti Singh for winning the historic gold medal in the team Dressage event. This is the First Gold in Equestrian in the last 40 years.

Also, congratulate Neha Thakur for winning a silver in the Girl’s Dinghy ILCA 4 event in Sailing.

Applause to Eabad Ali for winning the bronze medal in the Men’s Windsurfer RS – X, also in Sailing.

Glad to share that our ITI trainees have performed well at national level exam All India Trade Test (AITT). This year (2023) out of 50 toppers across the nation from different course categories, there are 08 ITI students from West Bengal which is highest across the country. Four of them are girls.

Last year, in AITT (2022) also, West Bengal topped the State list with total 10 toppers. They were felicitated by me in TETSD pgm at Netaji Indoor Stadium.

West Bengal has also achieved highest pass out percentage of ITI students among all major states of the Country.

Heartfelt congratulations to shooter Sift Kaur Samra for winning the gold medal in the individual 50m rifle 3 position event. Applause to Ashi Chouksey for bagging bronze in the same event.

Extremely proud of the shooting team of Manu Bhaker, Rhythm Sangwan and Esha Singh for winning gold in the Women’s 25m pistol event.

Best wishes to Indian women’s team members Ashi Chouksey, Manini Koushik and Sift Kaur Samra for clinching the Silver medal in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions team shooting event.

Also congratulate the Indian team consisting of Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Gurjoat Khangura, and Anant Jeet Singh Naruka for winning the team bronze in the men’s skeet event.

প্রবাদপ্রতিম চিত্রপরিচালক সত্যজিৎ রায়ের সঙ্গে উনি দীর্ঘদিন কাজ করেছেন। 'তিন কন্যা', 'অশনি স���কেত', 'অরণ্যের দিনরাত্রি', 'গুপী গাইন বাঘা বাইন'-র মতো অনেক ছবিতে ক্যামেরার দায়িত্ব সামলেছিলেন সৌমেন্দু রায়। তাঁর সেসব অসাধারণ কাজ দর্শক এখনও মনে রেখেছেন। তিনি চিত্রপরিচালক তপন সিংহ, তরুণ মজুমদার, বুদ্ধদেব দাশগুপ্ত, এম এস সথ্যু প্রমুখের ছবিতেও কাজ করেছেন।

সিনেমাটোগ্রাফির পাশাপাশি তিনি রূপকলা কেন্দ্রের উপদেষ্টাও ছিলেন।

বাংলা তথা বিশ্ব চলচ্চিত্রে তাঁর অসামান্য অবদানের জন্য আমাদের সরকার তাঁকে ২০১২ সালে 'বিশেষ চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার' ও ২০১৫ সালে 'চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কার (সারা জীবনের অবদান)' প্রদান করে। এছাড়া তিনি জাতীয় চলচ্চিত্র পুরস্কারসহ দেশ-বিদেশের বহু সম্মানে ভূষিত হয়েছেন।

তাঁর প্রয়াণে চলচ্চিত্র জগতের অপূরণীয় ক্ষতি হল।

Saddened to note that Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, widely acclaimed as the father of India's Green Revolution, is no more. The great agricultural scientist ushered in sweeping technological reforms in India's traditional cultivation practices and made us self-sufficient in the food sector. Great talents like him make us proud and their departures diminish us.
