At Delhi Metro, a young boy wearing earphones was taking a water bottle out of his bag when his tiffin box accidentally fell, spilling all the food onto the floor.

Without hesitation, he tore a page from his notebook and carefully gathered the spilled food. He then took out his handkerchief and wiped the floor clean.

JUSTICE FOR CHONGTHAM VIKRAM 💔A devastating news coming from New Dlehi, the tragic passing of Chongtham Vikram (originally from Thangmeiband, #Manipur). A pioneer of Manipur’s Western music scene and former guitarist for Ultra Vires and Eastern Dark, he was brutally assaulted and killed by six intoxicated individuals in Delhi where he was teaching music.
This horrific violence cannot go unpunished. We call upon the Delhi Police and authorities to immediately arrest all six culprits and ensure swift, maximum legal punishment.

After receiving his SOS messages and calls a few days ago, I visited one Seipu Chongloi at RIMS Imphal as a humanitarian gesture, along with the Hon’ble President of Thadou Inpi Manipur, to inquire about his health and extend our support, yesterday.

This is Mr. Kamtinsei Chongloi @ Seipu Chongloi of Teikhang Village, T. Waichong Sub-Division, Kangpokpi District, who was injured during the armed attack on his village on 31 August 2026. He was admitted to RIMS, Imphal, for medical treatment.

Since early this year, Seipu Chongloi had been messaging me through WhatsApp after watching my television interviews and media interactions advocating for a distinct Thadou identity, separate from the Kuki ideological movement and often send me messages of appreciation and encouragement.

When I met him personally at RIMS a day ago, he shared his views about his Thadou distinct identity and the situation in his village. He told me that he does not identify himself as Kuki and wishes to retain his Thadou identity. According to him, however, his village chief was part of the Kuki Defence Committee for the Twilang area, and therefore his village could not openly declare a distinct Thadou identity, unlike the neighbouring Lhungjang Thadou Village.

His account reflects, in his view, the difficulties and pressures faced by sections of the Thadou community amid the ongoing conflict.

I pray for Seipu Chongloi’s speedy recovery and for the safety and well-being of all innocent civilians affected by the ongoing conflict.
