An Indian engineer in Bengaluru got tired of potholes destroying his car.
So he built an app with Codex that detects them, finds who is responsible, and files a complaint.
Here is how it works. He installed a dashcam with GPS and an accelerometer. The app records everything while he drives.
A vision model classifies every pothole by size. Small, medium, large.
But here is the clever part. Most Indian roads are under warranty.
The contractor who built them is legally responsible for fixing potholes for free.
His app searches through 2,900 government contracts, finds the exact tender number, identifies the officer responsible, attaches the photo and geolocation, and generates a ready-to-file complaint.
One drive to work. 12 potholes detected. 12 complaints ready.

This is quite a clever ad by Palmonas :) The brand could have directly used Amrita Rao as the only person in the ad, talking about the mangalsutra product range, but that would have been straight to the point.
Instead, the script pitches a so-called battle of egos between Palmonas' co-founder and actor Shraddha Kapoor, and Amrita Rao, with the former wondering why the brand that she co-owns should even consider bringing in another brand ambassador!
What's Amrita's retort (and Palmonas CEO Pallavi Mohadikar agrees, in the ad)? That Shraddha Kapoor is single, and the ad may not sound convincing when a single woman tries to sell a mangalsutra product range! This is really not a big deal, if you think about it. Ranveer Singh (married to Deepika Padukone) and Alia Bhat (married to Ranbir Kapoor) act as a couple on their honeymoon in ads for Makemytrip. Akshay Kumar plays a doctor, with a white coat and stethoscope, in ads for Policybazaar. People adequately know that ads exist in a make-believe world even though they want us (the people) to take only the product claims seriously (which are not make-believe) and ignore the make-believe parts as entertainment.
But what really sells Amrita's retort is the script using her famous on-screen avatar from the movie Vivah! She really lives up to her 'Poonam' role from Vivah, redoing Shraddha's dialogs in Vivah-style and even throws a 'Jal Lijiye' to great effect :)
It also looks like the writing included quite a bit of detailing. Observe the opening close-up shot of the agreement! It has a recurring 'except one' ending for all three descriptions, though I'm not sure what Pallavi's 'except one' implies - what is that one business problem that she cannot solve? Did they mean getting Shraddha to sign the contract?
Plus, there's a 5% off for those using 'Jallijiye' as code, and a throwaway wink at people who paused to read the contract details :)
Entertaining writing, with good use of pop culture in perfect context!
I couldn't find the agency that made this ad. Would like to credit them, if I come to know.

JUST WONDERING HOW MOMS are supposed to work 9-5, drop the kids off at school at 8 AM, pick them up by 3 PM, stay on top of school activities, meal prep, cook dinner, keep the house clean, do the laundry, run the kids to extracurricular activities, climb the corporate ladder, save sick days for when the kids are sick, be a good friend, daughter, and partner, all while trying to take care of their own body and mental health…
Stanford just made a $200,000 AI degree free.
No application.
No tuition.
No “elite access”.
Stanford released its actual AI/ML curriculum on YouTube.
Not a PR-friendly intro.
Not “AI for the public”.
This is the real thing.
The same lectures shaping people working on frontier models.
What just became public:
Deep Learning (CS230)

Transformers & LLMs (CME295)

Computer Vision (CS231N)

The uncomfortable truth:
The degree isn’t the scarce asset anymore.
Execution speed is.
Top schools know this.
That’s why they’re publishing the playbook.

@MatthewIwama @MarcMillerVM This is real. People with high paying jobs have to leave as the score is not meeting the high cutoff. I wish there was some pathway to atleast continue working for longer time using a work permit atleast for people with jobs till they want to. Securing Lmia job is so tough
