Anger often wounds the one who harbours it far more than the one it is aimed at. The Word of God warns, “Be angry and do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and give no opportunity to the devil” (Ephesians 4:26–27).
Unchecked anger corrodes the soul, blinds judgment, and opens the door for sin to take root. Cain’s anger did not harm Abel at first but it consumed Cain until he lifted his hand in murder (Genesis 4:6–8). What began as resentment ended in destruction.
The truth is sobering: anger is a fire that burns the vessel that holds it. The wise man will put it to death, for “the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God” (James 1:20).
