After summer recess, the proposal will go before the Orange County Board of Commissioners for final vote. Head to our website to get involved in the fight!
Last night, the Planning Board voted unanimously to deny a rezoning for a proposed subdivision in an agricultural residential zone on Morrow Mill Rd and Gold Mine Loop. They also voted against amendments that would have threatened rural communities throughout the county.
Before the final vote, Chair Adam Beeman commented to the developer, “You want the benefit of public rezoning, [But the] public doesn't get any benefit from your property.” Beeman described the requested changes as trying to “shoehorn [a development] in the wrong place.”
