@SYorkshireBirds
@railadvent The majority of the aluminium body panels and steel members were replaced by Wabtec Rail at the refurbishment and corrosion repairs between 2010 and 2015 so should be in a good condition.
@YorkshireWater Why give 3 days notice, should be with immediate effect. People near me now have sprinklers out watering lawns before the hose pipe ban comes into effect.
@Elwick70 This is the field road, next to Railpart/Unipart, at what was then RFS Doncaster Works. We stored the 141s for Porterbrook until they were sold to Iran.
@_BTO Thank you for this. It certainly looks like the virus has spread to Doncaster with the local blackbird population seemingly being wiped out in the space of 3 months.
@_BTO having signed up for Blackbirds in Gardens survey I have not seen any since end of July. Always have them in garden so can't understand where they have gone. Must be hiding because they know I've signed up for survey.
@Elwick70 Not many other professions that are responsible for the safety of upto 700 passengers per train travelling at 125 mph. This includes driver, signaller, train maintainer, track maintainer, etc. T&Cs reflect this and not recognised by general public.
@philatrail I suggest people read Carmont accident report and Lavington accident report. HST cab strength is broadly similar to modern cab. Crash worthiness broadly consider frontal impact with another train and not tree impacting cab pillar.
@JayMitchinson@yorkshirepost@gilescoren Jump over the barriers and cross four lanes of traffic? Why not use the Pelican crossing or go directly into the Frenchgate Centre directly from the station?
@DavidGHFrost@Captain_Deltic Bending facts to suit story! Travel to airport, departure ticket check in and baggage checks, landing baggage collection and then travel to Manchester city centre. With no delays and assuming no time for car parking add another 5 hours.
@DonnyFreePress Whilst heat pumps are more efficient the actual heat energy put into house is a lot lower so you need more insulation and larger radiators to achieve same interior temperature. Also hot water temperatures will be a lot cooler. Ok for new build but not older houses.
@BusinessinDN@MyDoncaster@SouthYorksMCA@SouthYorks_Biz@DNChamber With no new train orders in sight Doncaster's rail businesses supporting the maintenance and overhaul of existing fleets will grow evermore important. All the more reason to broadcast this and gain government support for Doncaster industries.
@yorkshirepost Same thing in Bessacarr, Doncaster. First City Fibre and now Virgin. Then Open Reach, absolutely ridiculous. Paving slabs now broken and uneven, presenting a real hazard to pedestrians.
@KeyModelWorld really enjoyed Modelling British Railways Engineers Wagons of Privatisation. Summarises my engineering career at RFS/Wabtec. From Sea Urchin conversions for BR, through box body conversions to developing Autoballaster wagon. Brought back lots of memories.
