@yecnalc Best part was when Al dropped him off he said to his chat "He's gonna call me in 5 minutes asking for another ride isn't he?"
Jerma: "I'm gonna call him again in 5 minutes"
@AnthonyReach@kindaveryfurry@mikustappen Power fantasy doesn't have to be bad, the Wild hunt narrows the 'role' to Geralt, but it's well written and he's a cool character.
Skyrim irks me because it lets you choose any role at first, then narrows you down to 'The Dragonborn'.
That's why power fantasy games are shit RPGs. They never treat you as a weakling like in KCD.
In Skyrim you slay a dragon immediately and absorb its soul.
In the Witcher 3 you have a full kit of signs/spells to use and are known by every NPC as a badass.
FO4 you immediately get power armor (no training needed to equip), kill a death claw, and are promoted to a leadership position.
@json_jason_@Voltaire_Aro@mikustappen Casual players can't even manage that, most give up before they even get a horse. You might not need fart trails and yellow paint, but the kind of people chosen as playtesters, and the non-gamer audience, would consider KCD unplayable.
@SOLARFLARELVPL@denpanopticon I was hyped for skyrim in 2011, played it at release, and was immediately disappointed.
If there's a new wave of people realizing it's mid, good! I wish they realized earlier, then we could have avoided Starfield, FO76, and FO4
@Zenketski@kindaveryfurry@mikustappen OK sure but KCD level 1: Illiterate peasant who can't swing a sword
Skyrim Level 1: slay a Dragon
FO4 level 1: Mow down a deathclaw with a mini gun in your power armor
@Voltaire_Aro@mikustappen Yeah, people are referencing late game KCD to make a point about power fantasy, completely skipping over the beginning where you're a scrawny illiterate peasant
@mikustappen I understand what he means. The beginning of the KCD games filter all casuals because Henry sucks at everything and you're forced to get good.
Power fantasy is like Skyrim, Fallout 4, the Witcher 3.
