@Lunnzies Are we looking at the same photos? This is textbook UE slop, you’d be hard-pressed to find a single image that has good contrast. The Autumn’s mess hall literally looks like a forge map, it’s artistically bankrupt. But because “graphics”, tourist Halo fans’ll eat it up.

There are real people that really exist that will look at this and say it “respects the original atmosphere” because the contrast is horrifically bad and it’s underexposed. The original level was dark, moody, and the carrier was a looming and sleek presence.
@PixelCamouflage A defining aspect of Combat Evolved was that the fog was both an asset of the artistic and technical departments. It’s meant to convey a sense of monolithic scale, where the environment is so vast that it’s occluded by the “inclement weather”.

There’s now only three distinct sections of the hull, noticeably shortening the profile and making it look stubby. They took away the cool bridge design in favor of “realism”, and the lighting sucks cock. EVERYTHING is too glossy and bright and someone please just shoot me now
@jwtweets058 This game is really only retaining enough of CE’s visuals to allow them to say they “stayed true to the original” while they apply their blobifying enshitification to every single aspect. Every screencap is noisy, cluttered, and has too many lighting effects.
Every single image I see from this game is a twist of the knife and a perfect demonstration of why Unreal Engine is a gargantuan piece of shit that deserves to die. Art direction has basically died in western games and been replaced by a fetishistic obsession with graphics.
