There was a time where people would get signed based off of their talent before there was a fanbase … and the team + label would develop the artist and build the fanbase from the start.
A&R used to actually mean something
@Sledgren@DistroKid this situation is lame on so many diff levels man, heard Distrokid has been weird and this supports that
also, this guy is why everyone is so hesitate to work with random producers, too many thieves/unhonest people.
Music didn’t get worse. Our listening did. So many rush through new releases just to have an opinion online. People rarely sit with an album anymore. You can’t connect with music you’re half-listening to while scrolling.
reminds me of when mac miller made a website where you made a sandwich, and after you submitted your sandwich you could download his mixtape “FACES”.
this is fire.
THIS IS COOL: Ben Reilly released a video game that, once you reach a certain score, unlocks access to his new music video for ‘Super Buick’ ft Westside Boogie 🔥

@mikehector This might be the most annoying thing about music to me. No one has the patience or care to help and watch an artist grow anymore. Not sure if it’s the abundance of music released or the attention spans nowadays.
