correction: my book was not based on "a private collection held within the Friedman family that contains private correspondence, lecture notes, typescripts and draft works, and much else besides." I used the Friedman papers at @HooverArchives at Stanford, a major research archive of 20th c history, with holdings on Russia, China, Iraq, North Korea, and ideologies of every stripe. I was pretty surprised to see the author was unaware of this collection, given its relevance to neoliberalism. It's important for all to know these papers and many more are not only open to all researchers, but that there are a variety of fellowships available to underwrite travel costs. And many are digitized, here is the searchable portion of Friedman's archive:

It's my first ever trip to @Princeton and I've got a full day of meetings, podcasts, etc etc culminating in a talk at the Rabinowitz public policy school. Wish me luck!
